TDLR approved continuing education (CE) hours will be required to renew a cosmetology license that expires on or after September 1, 2006. The hours required must be completed within the term of the license being renewed.

Professional licenses are granted on a state-by-state basis. Most states require licensees to take refresher courses at regular intervals to ensure that their knowledge remains current. Courses designed to meet these requirements are known as Continuing Education Courses, or CEs. Frequently, the courses will be different from state to state.

Yes. Every qualified individual must complete a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education per license class as required by the Contractor Licensing Review Board each calendar year. Continuing education became mandatory January 1, 1995. Every year, dentists must complete 15 hours and hygienists must complete 6 hours. In addition, every licensee is required to maintain current CPR certification. The number of hours completed each year is reported on the license renewal form and no documentation of course work should be sent to the Board’s office.

Those who can offer continuing education include a community college or public school district or public educational institution, or a state-licensed private post-secondary institution under contract with a public educational institution, community college or public school district.

Students who are interested in earning university Continuing Education Units will pay for the cost of CEUs ($25 per CEU) to The University of Southern Mississippi (Southern Miss). Students will register and pay for the SEM Training through the Academy and pay for the CEUs separately to USM.

The Oregon Board of Massage Therapists has rules and regulations that require every LMT to submit proof of continuing education at renewal time. As licensed massage therapists we are required to familiarize ourselves with those rules. Answer: ACHE tracks all Category I (ACHE education) credit. For Category II credit, we rely on applicants and current members to keep track of their own continuing education. Only when you are filling out the paperwork to apply, advance, or recertify in ACHE do you need to provide us with this information. You will be asked to provide the name of the sponsoring organization, date of session, title of session, and number of hours of education.

All counselors need to have 30 hours of CEU's in a two-year period. The period began August 1, 2006 and ends July 31, 2008. They can be turned in as they acquire them, yearly when they turn in their renewals or every two years. The next two-year period will begin August 1, 2008 and will end July 31, 2010.
