We encourage everyone to volunteer because we believe it is the right thing to do. Helping others is an act of kindness and a common expectation in a civil society. By sentencing people to perform "community service" the court system makes our job substantially more difficult. Many people believe "community service is what bad people have to do." We don't even use the phrase "community service.

Court costs vary with each case. You must call the Clerk of Court's Office and ask for the Civil Department. Please have a docket (case) number available.

If you do not perform any one part of the sentence you receive, the law requires the prosecuting attorney to issue a bench warrant for your arrest. If you missed a part for a good reason, then the Judge can allow you to make up a portion. Best thing to do is make a schedule you can keep to in the beginning. If you get a bench warrant, not only do you risk going to jail again but a $100.00 warrant fee is assessed so you end up paying more money.

Juvenile Intake has a list of resources for community service in Kenosha County. In addition, Juvenile Intake keeps track of the amount of community service work that has been completed. The parent(s) and child will receive a letter from Juvenile Intake with an appointment to discuss a community service site.

The community service program or probation officer will inform the participant of his or her responsibilities to: report according to the work schedule; complete all requirements of the community service order; and comply with all participant/community service program/worksite agreements that have been made during the placement process.

Yes, however, indirect costs are not included in the calculation to determine compliance with Education Code Section 48660.2(b). This section requires that the total of direct instructional costs and documented support costs of the community day schools must equal at least 90 percent of the revenues generated on behalf of pupils enrolled in the community day schools. Indirect costs are not considered direct instructional nor documented support expenditures.

Yes. All placements are mutual decisions between the participant, community and RARE staff. Once participants are accepted in RARE they have the opportunity to interview with three communities. Those interviews will take place the week of August 6, 2007.

Before potential jurors are summoned for service, their names are randomly drawn from voters lists (and sometimes drivers lists) to receive a questionnaire to determine whether they meet the legal qualifications for jury service. Individuals who receive questionnaires are required to complete and return them to the clerk's office, which then screens the completed questionnaires to determine eligibility for jury service.

The only person who can extend time to pay on a court fine is a municipal court judge. To request additional time to pay on a court case you must appear on the Court's Walk-In docket. You may be eligible for a one-time, 30-day extension of time to pay on a traffic citation. Contact the Court Clerk's Office at (316) 268-4611. Please be patient, we receive hundreds of calls each day. If granted an extension on your citation, a $5.00 extension fee will be added to the amount due.

Absolutely! We believe that membership in The Village School community is a special privilege. SJC students strive to give back to the community. While clubs and organizations do community service, there are a few that are specifically dedicated to community service.
