A Microsoft Service Pack (MSP) file stores only the differences between an old version and a new version. It is much smaller in size than the upgrade file. You can either use the MSP file or the new MSI file to upgrade your Dell OpenManage 4.3. Using the MSP file is a good idea as it is more efficient. NOTE: You can upgrade from Dell OpenManage software version 4.3 to 5.1 through a full MSI Installation only. You cannot upgrade using a MSP service pack file.

While the older Versions (98,ME,2000,XP) of Windows were all good operating systems, none them were designed to cope with the magnitude of dangers on the World Wide Web in the year 2008. These systems just weren’t designed to handle the nasty stuff that’s out there today. Most of these systems that I see either won’t boot at all or are so slow and/or plagued with so many error messages that they are practically unusable.

The short answer is no, that OS/2 Warp Version 3 with Win-OS/2 is a more convenient upgrade. However, if you are willing to reformat, you can purchase and install OS/2 Warp Version 3 to run DOS and OS/2 applications. If you install Windows before installing OS/2 Warp Version 3, you can also run Windows applications. IBM does not recommend such an upgrade without reformatting. Or, at the very least, you should completely remove all traces of OS/2 (with Win-OS/2) from a diskette boot.

When a Service Pack is installed using the normal method (e.g. not just copying the files to a build location) the service pack version is entered into the registry value CSDVersion which is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion. The value is of the formal "Service Pack n", e.g. "Service Pack 4" but can have extra information if it is a beta or release candidate, e.g. "Service Pack 4, RC 1.99". alternative is to just run WINVER.

By default, Solaris doesn't allow packages to be upgraded. However, you can change this by editing the file /var/sadm/install/admin/default and changing the instance= line to instance=overwrite.
