Clan of Xymox (Synth, almost dancey) * Southern Death Cult (SDC) later split in all directions. Only SDC are condsidered properly Gothic. However many of Southern Death Cult's Goth followers remained true even when they entered their 'The Cult' glam metal phase.

Louis is probably best associated with él records. According to founder Mike Alway, "the theme of él records would be escapism into a pop fantasy world which would always be optimism and sunshine". él was magnificently out of step with the rest of the late-eighties musical scene, enormously influential with musicians in Europe, Japan, and the US, and was ten years ahead of its time in anticipating the retro and easy listening vogues in recent pop.

This is a very common question, as Goth music is notoriously difficult to get. Square jars were considered a design improvement because a homemaker could stack more jars together in less space thus allowing a family to put up more food in their small cellars or cupboards. Square Jars were made for the Smalley Fruit Jar Co. Boston, Mass in the late 1890s. Other square jars date from the 20s, 30s and later. The value of square shaped jars tends to be higher than round as it seems that fewer square jars were made.

Probably the earliest usage, as applied to music though was by Anthony H. Wilson (Joy Division manager) who was overcome by a rare moment of lucidity on a 1978 BBC TV program when he described Joy Division as Gothic compared with the pop mainstream. How 'Goth' and 'Gothic' came to be used to describe the movement though is a little less clear. What is certain is that NME and Sounds used it, and there seem to be two suggestions as to where they got it from.

We work extremely hard to reproduce the sound of the original recordings as closely as we can. We attempt to play each style of music the way it was meant to be played. This means playing songs the audience knows in a manner as true to the original song as possible. We believe strongly in doing a song properly. If we can't do a really good job of reproducing a song, we would rather not do it at all. We take pride in our music, and want to sound as good as possible for our clients.

This is likely what is known as a "reverse sneeze", although it actually has nothing to do with sneezing. It sounds like a cross between coughing and gasping for breath, is often accompanied by drooling, and can last for a couple of minutes. The cause of reverse sneezing is unclear - the soft palate is often implicated - but the important thing to know is that it is a common occurence in beagles and is not dangerous. Getting your beagle to swallow seems to help stop it.
