A nitrogen atmosphere inside binoculars prevents internal fogging. Without any air inside the binocular, there is no humidity, and thus no condensation, even during a temperature change. And because the binoculars are airtight, they are also watertight and may be submerged.

With Nitrogen, there is no more oxidation of inner liners, belt packages, valve stem hardware or air pressure monitoring devices. Nitrogen doesn’t cause tire rubber to break down as quickly as regular air and with the elimination of oxidation, Nitrogen filled truck tires have often had 4 or more retread lives.

The gas springs last approximately three years. This can be extended another year, for a total of four years, by simply adding more pre-load to the coil spring. If adding pre-load is not sufficient then replacement gas springs are just $35. Compare this to typical elastomer life span of 18 months before elastomer resilience is diminished.

Nitrogen assist laser cutting leaves an oxide free finish on both mild and stainless steel. Unlike oxygen assist cutting nitrogen produces a receptive surface for subsequent painting or coating with no problems of rusting. Using nitrogen assist cutting is a more expensive process but there are as indicated significant benefits.

Shop air has oxygen and when exposed to petroleum based fluids or grease, can diesel (explode) under pressure. Pure oxygen is even more volatile. Other gases are expensive, corrosive or explosive. There are several grades of nitrogen gas available. For use in bladder accumulators, we recommend Commercial/Industrial Grade. This is the most common grade available and the most cost effective. It has been used with bladder accumulators for over 50 years. The average purity is 99.5%.

The air between two panes slows the transfer of heat. Filling the air space with an inert gas — argon— improves a window's performance by further slowing the rate at which heat is transferred from one pane to the other. Argon gas is an odorless, invisible and non-toxic gas with a thermal conductivity that is 30% less than air.

Data from sites in the Southeastern U.S. show that after the initial year of establishment, nitrate losses under switchgrass and sweetgum decreased to less than 1 kg/ha compared with approximately 2-4 kg/ha from no-till corn. Because of the larger molecular size of Nitrogen, it migrates through a tire 3 to 4 times slower than oxygen. Better tire air pressures improve rolling resistance and reduce the risk of running tires under-inflated.

It can account for up to 5 percent of the total weight of annual plants. Plants lacking nitrogen have a pale color instead of a lush green color. Extreme care is very important when applying nitrogen. The correct amount is wonderful but too much is extremely harmful to plants.

The hotter the filament the more efficient the lamp. The upper limit to filament temperature is the boiling point of tungsten. High pressure (around 100 PSI!) gas filling raises the boiling point. This allows a higher filament temperature, greater visible light output and increased efficiency.

Standard gas springs have a sixty five percent increase in force over their stroke. This is caused by a reduction in free volume for the nitrogen as the piston enters the cylinder during the stroke. The LF series springs are designed to reduce the force increase to just over twenty five percent. This is achieved by using larger bodies thus lessening the reduction in volume as the piston enters the cylinder.

How long is a piece of string? The length of time a can of gas costing ?10-?15 lasts, varies with regards to air temperature and the model of gun. Obviously guns that have larger magazine hold more gas so you will get fewer charges from a can of gas. Similarly in hot weather some guns can use less gas as the gas expands more in the reservoir. Generally each time you charge a pistol magazine you will get 2.5 bbs worth fired from that magazine.
