Answer: Tryouts, roster additions or subtractions, or other related issues are considered team issues and coaching decisions. Only in the case of gross misconduct (coach, player or parent) would the club interfere in such decisions. If a coach does not wish to have any roster additions or subtractions, they are not required to go to tryouts.

Yes. A Coach is allowed to coach up to 3 players from their district. The following is my version of a simplified breakdown of this complicated rule. Obviously, get with your District AD to get a more definitive ruling. If you know better about this rule than me, please email me with any corrections. No paid coach in a high school program can actively coach out of season in a facility in which more than 3 in-district kids are practicing.

The number of players on a team ranges from 10 to 12. The exact number is dependent upon several factors, including team composition needs, ability level of players and number of athletes participating in tryouts. During tryouts, we would typically pick 12 players and 3 alternates for every team -- giving a 72 hour period after tryouts for players to make their decisions.

Yes, if you choose to tryout for the Orange Squad and are not chosen, you can then request for consideration for the White Squad. Keep in mind that the purpose of the league is to facilitate kids playing soccer. Every effort should be made to play scheduled matches even if your team is missing significant numbers of players. The best way to solve such a problem is to call the opposing team beforehand and examine all of the options. Often it is appropriate to agree to call the match a "scrimmage" and agree to do what ever works in order to get kids safely playing/improving/having fun.

Players that are on the 40-man roster by August 31st are eligible to be on the post-season roster. If a player is injured, any player in the organization can be used. The restriction in this case is that a hitter be substituted for a hitter, and a pitcher be substituted for a pitcer.
