This problem is solved in recent Cygwin/X releases. Use cygwin setup to upgrade the xorg-x11-xwin package. The older X11 releases on the various commercial unices define the AltGr key as ModeSwitch, MetaR, AltR or similar. Cygwin/X expects it to be ISO_Level3_Switch. For reasons unknown to us this is reset when loggin into the remote host. As far as we don't have access to such a machine we are unable to track this down and find a reason.

Most programs that work on Windows 95/98/Me and NT will work on versions of Windows XP. As with Windows 2000, several compatibility updates are sure to made after the product is released. There will be problems running older DOS programs (if they will run at all).

Yes. Insert the Windows XP upgrade CD, and start Setup if necessary. When prompted, click Install Windows. At the Welcome to Windows Setup window, choose the installation type New Installation (Advanced). Click Next, and follow the instructions. There are (at least) four ways to clean-install the Windows XP UPGRADE. Be sure to back-up your data before attempting any of them. Do it at your own risk. CPC software runs in the Command window of Windows NT, XP, and Win2000. This Command window (often referred to as a DOS window) is, by default, setup with "QuickEdit Mode" selected. This prevents the mouse from selecting items in any DOS application screen. You will need to turn off QuickEdit Mode to get normal use of the mouse. If you find that you cannot use your mouse to select screen items, the fix is simple.

There is a known bug in Windows XP + SP1 that causes problems with multiport PCMCIA cards, that also effects Quatech CompactFlash cards. When Windows is installed, the multifunction PCMCIA/CF card's PWRDWN bit is set in the function configuration registers. If the hardware supports this register bit, then the device is placed in a low power state (as defined in the PC-Card Specification for multifunction PC-Cards).
