Your monitor resolution is set larger than the display area of the software. Space Update runs at a resolution of 640x480 pixels, while Earth Update runs at 800x600. To get the software to run full screen adjust your monitor settings in your System's Control Panels. The closer your settings are to this resolution, the closer the software will be to filling the screen.

Black screens on some ROMs only may indicate that there is a problem with the emulation of that ROM or that you have an old version of the emulator. Please verify if a newer version exists and, if not, please contact the author.

This is a known problem with the ATI Mach 64 video card. The problem is that this card uses address 2e8, and the fourth serial port does too. Due to a bug (feature?) in the sio(4) driver it will touch this port even if you do not have the fourth serial port, and even if you disable sio3 (the fourth port) which normally uses this address. Disable sio0, sio1, sio2 and sio3 (all of them). This way the sio driver does not get activated -> no problems.

Try to disable video acceleration in Settings -> Control Panel -> Display -> Throubleshooting, during the screenshots. Or start a second player instance and try to capture it. Bug report (Windows 95): In the thumbnail window, when I click on a thumbnail, nothing happens, the image will not be displayed in the main window! You have an old version of the "comctl32.dll", please update this Windows component from the MS homepage, search for Comctl32.dll update.

The standard television screen proportions are 4:3 or 1.33:1, however theatrical movies are filmed in a variety of wide screen formats such as 1.85:1, 2.15:1 or 2.35:1. When widescreen movies are show on a standard television, there are two options for displaying the picture. The first option is "pan-and-scan". This is a method of cropping the full frame of the movie, so that it fills a 4:3 screen.

First, does an error message appear on the bottom of your screen? If there is a message, consult the list of messages to help solve your problem. If you have no message, just the banner, then the channel you are tuned to is most likely scheduled to broadcast a major sporting event in the very near future. Scheduled programming will begin broadcasting an hour or two before the start of the event.

Today, many programmes are produced in a widescreen format with an aspect ratio of 16:9, or are films made in widescreen for the cinema. They are often transmitted in widescreen on digital services. In order to show more of the width of the scene as the director intended, small black bands are placed at the top and bottom of conventional analogue 4:3 aspect ratio screens. Digital widescreen sets do not show these bands, and most widescreen TVs allow the viewer to "zoom" into the picture.

There are a few reasons for this, but the main one is extra files in the rom folders (e.g. the zip file from which you extracted the roms. RedSquirrel will quite happily load zip files and try to run them as arm code.

Your display settings exceed the capabilities of the LCD monitor. You must reduce the settings. Reconnect the original monitor into the video card and reboot to Windows. Reduce the refresh rate to 60hz and reduce the resolution to 640x480 pixels. Reconnect the LCD monitor back into the video card and boot the computer. You should have a picture at this time. Make your adjustments once in Windows. Refer to your user's manual for resolution settings.

The Frame can display images with a 4:3 aspect ratio*. Pictures with 640x480 resolution have an aspect ratio of 4:3 (comparing 640 to 480 is like comparing 4 to 3). If the aspect ratio of a picture is not 4:3, the Frame will adjust the aspect ratio to 4:3. Black bars are the result of this adjustment. For example, a picture from a KODAK Picture CD has a resolution of 1024x1536, and, therefore, an aspect ratio of 1:1.5.

If you use Windows NT or XP, CPC software is displayed in a small command window on the desktop by default. Personally I like it that way, but I use a large monitor and often switch to other windows. If you prefer full screen however, you can change the command window to be displayed "full screen." There are two ways: You have the option to either make the change just for the current session of for all future sessions.

If you have a card with 8MB of video memory, first try telling the X server that there is only 4MB present by adding the following line to the Device section of your config file: Videoram 4096 If you have a 4MB card, or if the above line doesn't help, try adding the following line to the Device section: Option "nolinear" A drawback with this option is that colour depths higher than 8bpp can't be used, but that is better than nothing.

The only reason imaging works is that after the image is applied, a mini-hardware detection process is run through, which notices differences in things like network and video cards in your computer relative to the computer where the image was taken, and installs the correct drivers. But there are some things that are so low level that they cannot be handled by this process. One of these is called the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL).

This happens when the server is running on a machine with an unsupported color depth. The color depth must be 16-bits or 32-bits. Resolve this by changing the server screen resolution to either 16-bits or 32-bits.

If your unit is using an S-Video connection, try replacing the cable. Often, a broken pin in the connector can cause this problem. If your unit isn't using an S-Video connection, press and hold down the power button on the front of the machine until you see the words "Please Wait a Few Moments".

Make sure your Cable Box is set to 16:9 fit aspect ratio. When a TV program is broadcast in High Definition, the screen will extend in full length. All Non-HD broadcast programs will have the black bars since it was meant to be viewed in a 4:3 fit aspect ratio.

This occurs when you uncheck the "Borders" option, which is available under the Display drop-down menu. When setup through a proxy server it is common to receive a" no authentication server error" due to cookie permission. To avoid this error please enable the option that reads "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer". You also want to enable the option that reads "Allow per session cookies not stored". These options are available within the control panel under "Internet Options".

The Fresh Desktop Screen Saver uses the pictures selected on Fresh Desktop. If there has no picture selected, the screen will be black.
