In phpBB, simply edit your profile and find the setting for 'Always check Spelling before posting' and set to 'No'. Easy as that. However, instead of disabling, why not register an account and add words to your dictionary. If no spelling errors are present then the window will automatically close on it's own and you'll know your spelling is correct!

You can use ispell.el to spell-check stuff in Emacs. So the first thing to do is to make sure that you've got either ispell or aspell installed and in your Path.
