No. The Sheepy Sleeves (padded sleeves) which fit over the leg loops are made of Neoprene and are very soft. Our dog harness will not chafe your pet. We are sending some photos as promised of our beloved Shepard Cody. We just returned from a few days on Cape Cod and took some recent photos of Cody wearing your "Bottom's Up Leash." We are so grateful to you for coming to our rescue - we find the vets here have not been helpful - they say there's nothing that could be done with his illness.
