The most important thing you can do to take care of you boots is to keep them dry. Moisture from the ice is your boots enemy. They can cause your boots to loose support, longevity. As soon as you have finished skating dry off your boots and blades with a towel completely. Then loosen the laces so that you can pull the tongue back which will allow air to circulate inside the boots and dry out the inside. If your boots get wet, you must let them dry out in the shade, out of direct sunlight. Dry your boots after use, as the enzymes in sweat will break down the leather. Answer : This is not hiking related, and certainly not something I know about, but may I suggest that you visit a good "upscale" shoe store for advice. You could also try a web site for your brand of boot. I'd think that the care is the same for alligator skin purses, boots, etc. A good leather cleaner and softener (conditioner) would seem applicable. Try a shoe retailer in your area. Treat waterproof leather with a Saddle Soap product only. Treat smooth leather with a quality shoe polish, then buff. Full grain leather can first be treated with a boot oil or silicone before applying the polish. Keep the insides of the footwear dry and clean with powders and disinfectant sprays. The Dehner equestrian and Motor Patrol boots get wet all the time. The first thing to consider is that boots should be waxed or oiled so that they tend to repel water and are more resistant to water. By far the best way to break-in new boots is to skate in them. First, start by spending a session or two just stroking forward, stroking backward and doing simple spinning. When the boots feel comfortable, add the basic jumps you can land consistently. Despite the rough terrain and many miles of cross country travel, you will probably be much better off in running shoes, although one of the modern lug soled running/hiking shoe hybrids might not be an unreasonable choice. SnowSeal is good for the sole edges and seams, but may be a bit of an overkill on the rest of the boots. We like the beeswax based boot grease or bee oil for both the standard oil tanned leather and the silicon tanned leather. These are a mix of beeswax and oil. SnowSeal is thicker and stickier and does not breathe, but it's great for sealing the seams and the interface between the soles and the boot uppers. See similar questions...

Inner CV boots break (in most cases) due to dry rot or lack of grease. Outer boots generally fail to due to dry rot or in some cases excessively worn Outer CV joints cause excessive movement in the joint area placing strain on the boot causing it to break in the bend. Rumors are that wrong plugs would cause issues with the DI cassette but we are yet to see this in any bench test (although performance of the fuel system can be adversly affected). Most newer cars have fully independent suspension, which means that power is transmitted to the wheels through flexible axles. Where the axles flex, they are covered with rubber "boots" to keep road dust and dirt out of the joints. Over time, the rubber boots harden, crack, and eventually break.
