Can the OLC series use a DVI box on one end and an HDMI™ box on the other end?

Get the eye, get Purelink...
No, OLC with DVI at each end must be used. We generally do not recommend OLC for AV equipment as these OLC cables do not pass HDCP. OLC utilizes virtual DDC technology and thus, eliminate the need of copper connection. The virtual DDC is in the OLC transmitter connector and contains all DDC information required for the computer source, and this DDC information is fed directly to the video source.

Is the switch truly capable of achieving high definition signal such as 1080p? Many switches claim 1080p but, according to our tests, most of them only perform marginally even at lower bandwidth (resolution) Is the switch flexible and accurate in control? All PureLink™ switches have discreet IR remote control capability without any IR code conflict and in addition, PureLink™ switches can be controlled externally via RS-232 operated external controllers, which is essential for many cust.

My TV doesn't have an HDMI input, but it does have DVI. Can I use that instead?

V+ Faq - Cable Forum
Yes, but you'll need a HDMI to DVI cable or adapter. You may be able to blag one off the installer - tea and biccies go down well. You'll also need separate audio cables because DVI only carries video. And if your TV doesn't support HDCP (check the TV manual) you'll be limited in what you can watch - most of the HD movies require HDCP. No, when you enable one the others get disabled - that's because the hardware isn't very good at doing both HD and SD at the same time.

What are DVI, HDMI and HDCP?

High Definition Television (HDTV) FAQ for the UK (Sky BBC Te...
DVI is Digital Visual Interface. This is an old standard for digital video input used initially for PC screen connections but also suitable for HDTV. PC owners may be familiar with the DVI cables used to connect their monitor. HDMI is the High Definition Multimedia Interface. It was introduced more recently with Digital TV in mind and has been called the SCART socket of HDTV. Unlike DVI it includes audio content as well as video. HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital-Content Protection.

What is HDMI™?

Get the eye, get Purelink...
HDMI™ (High-Definition Multimedia Interface™) is the first and only industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI™ provides an interface between any audio/video source, such as a set-top box, DVD player, Videogame System, or A/V receiver and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (DTV), over a single cable. HDMI™ supports standard, enhanced, or highdefinition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable.

Will there be an HDMI/DVI connection on the Xbox 360?

coldforged.org & Blog Archive & Xbox 360 High De...
No, not at launch. Microsoft has said that they will provide one “when it makes sense.” Recently many sites are reporting that a so-called “version 2″ Xbox 360 — codenamed “Zephyr” — is in development with a built-in HDMI port, larger hard drive and cooler processor. Microsoft has responded by saying that anything seen today is from experimental systems and is not indicative of systems that might be released in the future.

Do I have to use DVI out if I use DVI in?

Focus Enhancements
For DVI in, CenterStage will output component analog and DVI simultaneously. The DVI out is user selectable to be either DVI, or DVI HDCP. For DVI HDCP in, CenterStage will only output DVI HDCP out. In this case, the component analog outputs are turned off. To install CenterStage Remote, Windows 2000 must be updated to service pack 2. This is a free update to registered Windows 2000 users available from Microsoft.

Why does the Model 990 have DVI switching instead of HDMI?

Outlaw Audio
At this time we believe that the more stable DVI format is a more appropriate choice, since it is well established and totally compatible with HDMI from a video standpoint. Unfortunately, HDMI is still a moving target, with the 1.2 specifications still awaiting final release. More importantly, there is a big unknown regarding the specifications of the ?next? version of HDMI that will allow transport of Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD data streams.

Is HDMI backward compatible with DVI (Digital Visual Interface)?

HDMI :: Resources :: FAQ
Yes, HDMI is fully backward compatible with DVI compliant devices. HDMI DTVs will display video received from existing DVI-equipped products, and DVI-equipped TVs will display video from HDMI sources. However, some older PCs with DVI are designed only to support computer monitors, not televisions. Consumers buying a PC with DVI should make sure that it specifically includes support for television formats and not just computer monitors.

Are there any requirements or limitations in OC Series Fiber Optic DVI cable?

Get the eye, get Purelink...
Certain DVI sources such as the Evertz video processor and certain scalers do not have 5V coming out of pin#14 of DVI output. This is not in line with DDWG's DVI specification. Our OC obtains power from the video source's DVI pin#14 and if this power is not available, OC will not operate properly. For these type of video sources, we recommend using our DVI-G5P adapter(DVI female to DVI female adapter with 5V input) to be used between the video source and OC cable to feed the 5V power.

I have a DVI-D capable DVD/Satellite/Cable Box, will this work with the controller?

x1200 WUXGA LCD & Controller
Most likely, no. Almost all DVD/Satellite/Cable Boxes with DVI-D output use an encryption format called HDCP. Since this controller does not support HDCP, it cannot decrypt the video signals, resulting in a blank picture.

What is an OLC? Do I need one?

Section 3 - Expanding the mud with public code
There are two distinct parts to what makes a mud: the compiled C code that is the game engine and the area files that make up the world the players move in, specifying the rooms, objects and monsters. This task of area writing has been traditionally viewed as very difficult as it required the area author to put together a text file containing what often seemed to be incomprehensible strings of numbers and letters to represent things in the world.

Why not just put every series on the end, then?

Review FAQ
Well, I could, but there's two problems with that. For one thing, some authors have more than one series ongoing at the same time. Which one goes to the end? Secondly, even for those with only one series, it still holds true that as soon as I buy a new stand-alone novel, it'll go to the left of the series in order to keep the series on the end. Thus changing the order of my shelving, which changes the order of the listing, which changes the file names.
