Just adding something to paint may or may not eliminate pinholing. If the cause of the pinholing is that the paint drying too fast, then adding up to 1 pint of water per gallon may help. Another cause of pinholing is excessive film build, which causes solvent pop. The top layer of paint dries faster than the underside and this traps the solvents in the paint. As the solvent attempts to escape from the coating, it first causes a small blister and then the blister pops leaving a pinhole.

Make sure not to graduate too quickly from a 180 file to the white block. Try using the white block buffer a little longer than seems necessary. Be sure to wipe all grit and dust from the nail and the 3-way buffer, as even the smallest amount of dust will prevent a high gloss. Cuticle oil may be helpful. There may be a slight color variation from batch to batch. Allow the polish to dry completely before you decide it doesn't match.

Latex paint is not considered hazardous waste and, after hardening, should be put in your trash. Paint hardener, good for about 3 gallons of paint, is available at minimal cost from Lynch Paint near the Main Westford Post Office on Littleton Road (Route 110). Kitty litter also works as an absorber hardener but is not quite as effective.

Lightly sand to dull the sheen and clean the surface thoroughly. When recoating with an oil-based paint or Porter's ADVANTAGE 900 Interior/Exterior Acrylic Enamel, you may paint directly over glossy surfaces as long as they are clean.

Limewashes represent the best of both form and function. They're beautiful and breathable, making them the perfect choice for both historic and new buildings. Unlike typical modern paints, they don't trap water and they age beautifully--instead of getting shabby, they develop a lovely mellow patina over time.

All Minerelle worktops and cast sheets can be brought up to a high gloss level with additional polishing, however, we do not recommend it. High gloss surface are not practical as they require higher and more frequent maintenance. Please see our recommended finishing process in the "Fabrication and Installation" menu.

Make sure every coat is dry prior to applying another coat of paint. For an even higher gloss, you may purchase one of our clear coat pens from us.

No matter which paint service you choose, you can rest assured that it will shine! There is not a significant amount of shine difference between our least expensive and most expensive paint jobs. However, the durability and warranties of these products do vary. The more expensive the service, the higher quality components are used

The Satin finish is a matte finish and the easiest to maintain. Because it has a low sheen, it is very forgiving insofar as showing scratches, dents, and wear and tear over time. The Semi Gloss finish has some shine and is a little harder to maintain in that it will show scratches, dents and wear and tear sooner. The High Gloss finish is the hardest to maintain in that it shows everything - dust, dirt, scratches, dents, and wear and tear in general the quickest.

Answer: Latex paint can be poured out onto newspapers or paper towels and allowed to dry. When dry, dispose of in trash. Empty, dried out latex paint cans can also be disposed of in the trash. There is also a product on the market called "Waste Paint Hardener" that can be used according to the package instructions that is made specifically for latex paint.

Traditionally, latex finishes cannot be applied to an alkyd enamel without proper surface preparation which includes sanding, cleaning, and priming. However Porter's ADVANTAGE 900 Interior/Exterior Acrylic Enamel, with its new age acrylic resin, may be applied directly to clean alkyd enamel surfaces.

Latex paint cannot tolerate a freeze without some negative consequence. In many cases, it may not be noticeable in the can or during application; however, long-term durability will suffer relative to how hard the paint freezes. Oil paint, in most cases, can take almost any temperature. There are some formulations that can 'shock' if exposed to extreme cold. A paint that has been 'shocked' will have the different ingredients (oil, resin, pigment, solvent and additives) separate.

Latex paint that has not been frozen or hardened can be taken to local Hader Hardware stores (5 gallons or less at a time). All paint will be recycled. If the latex paint is unusable, you can dry it out with kitty litter or sawdust and throw it away with your regular garbage. Remove the lid so the hauler can see that the paint is dry.

Generally, a SpiralTrac cannot be used for most latex compounds or latex based paint because the exit groove would be blocked by the material, and the functionality of the SpiralTrac would be degraded as a result.

Yes! Although latex paint is not accepted at Household Hazardous Waste Collection Sites, usable latex paint can be taken to the Woodridge Wastewater Treatment Facility.
