There are many software packages that can do this type of analysis. The GCG software package contains the Composition tool, which will determine the composition of sequences along with dinucleotide and trinucleotide content for nucleotide sequences. The S288C strain that was sequenced for the systematic sequencing project has a nonsense mutation in TRP1; the sequence in SGD reflects this.

A genome is an organism's complete set of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), a chemical compound that contains the genetic instructions needed to develop and direct the activities of every organism. DNA molecules are made of two twisting, paired strands. Each strand is made of four chemical units, called nucleotide bases. The bases are adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G) and cytosine (C). Bases on opposite strands pair specifically; an A always pairs with a T, and a C always with a G.

Historically, it has been estimated that there are roughly 6000 total genes in the yeast genome, of which 5885 were estimated to encode proteins. These estimates were based on the sequencing of the yeast genome (see Mewes et al. and Goffeau et al.). The addition of 354 previously unannotated ORFs, based on published information from various sources including: Brachat et al., Kessler et al., Kumar et al., and Oshiro et al.. The deepest cores taken in the area indicate that the soil is composed of silty sands, clays, and gravels which extend down at least 20 m (70 ft). Any rocks would be found at least 7000 ft down since all the material found here is a result of relatively recent sedimentation (on the order of tens of thousands of years ago). An oil well from 1945 drilled to 10,000 feet in Cape Hatteras and found no sign of bed rock.

The official FIRST season begins in January, with the kick-off and the beginning of the six weeks in which teams can build their robot. During these six weeks, the robot must be completely built, after which teams are required to ship it to their first regional. In March, every week for five weeks, anywhere from five to seven regionals occur in various parts of the United States, Canada, and Israel. Teams are allowed to enter two out of the twenty-seven possible regionals.

Sequencing means determining the exact order of the base pairs in a segment of DNA. Human chromosomes range in size from about 50,000,000 to 300,000,000 base pairs. Because the bases exist as pairs, and the identity of one of the bases in the pair determines the other member of the pair, scientists do not have to report both bases of the pair. The primary method used by the HGP to produce the finished version of the human genetic code is map-based, or BAC-based, sequencing.

Every part of the genome sequenced by the Human Genome Project was made public immediately - in fact, new data on the genome is posted every 24 hours. It is true that private companies have filed thousands of patents on human genes over the past several years. We don't know how many such patents have been filed, whether the patents will be awarded or if they're enforceable.
