Jane.Doe@sendit.nodak.edu) then click the arrow to advance to the next screen In the Outgoing Mail box, type mail.phreego.com, and then click the arrow to advance to the next screen In the Account ID box, type your username (eg:username@phreego.

On Mac OS X, all users have real-time privileges. No special tuning is required for real-time scheduling. But, OS X lacks POSIX support for locking pages into real memory. JACK will run without locking memory, but users should avoid running too many other applications when performing critical real-time tasks. If there is too much memory contention, the operating system might page out data needed for the time-critical process cycle, causing dropouts.

This software is not supported. It is unlikely that Information Services can answer any queries on the software. The software is listed because it is known to be in use within the University. There is no documentation or training available from Information Services.

In the "Preferences" window, in the "Email" section under Accounts, enter your name and email address. Set the "SMTP Server" as "smtp.phreego.com" and the "POP Server" as "pop3.phreego.com". Enter your full email address (example: mailbox@phreego.com) as the "Account ID". Under the "Servers" tab, enter "smtp.phreego.com" for the "Outgoing Mail Server" and "pop3.phreego.com" for the "Incoming Mail server".  Enter your entire email address (example: mailbox@phreego.

If you are using both Entourage X and Entourage 2004 be sure to quit Notification and/or the daemon before switching. You should only have one daemon in Startup Items. More info I just upgraded to Office 2004 and I had a bit of a problem with Entourage. I have about 20 email accounts that all get a tremendous amount of mail.

If you have at least MacOS 8.6, you should be able to download a recent version of Eudora directly from their web site. If your site does not have a Kerberos auto-configuration/DNS configuration (and in some cases, even if it does), you must copy or create a file called edu.mit.Kerberos in your /Library/Preferences directory. If you are running KfM 5.5 (Mac OS X 10.4), the Kerberos application realms editor graphical interface can be used to edit the realms configuration.

Open your Network Preferences window. (To do this, click on the Apple menu, choose "Location", and then choose "Network Preferences".) If you have call waiting, you should enter "*70," before the phone number to disable call waiting while you are on the Internet. In the Account Name box, enter your login name with @phreego.net appended to it (Example:  username@phreego.net). A bug was discovered when Mac PowerPoint 2001 files are converted to web pages and uploaded to WebCT. When these HTML files are linked as a single page, black frames and an error message reading "Open the default .htm file to view this Web presentation" are displayed.

Make sure Real Name is your full name, Return Address is your email address, Mail Server is mail.bcsmail.com, Login Name is your user ID and SMTP Mail is mail.bcsmail.com.

Some servers have no facility for this; you may be able to adjust your monitor to correct somewhat. I am afraid that Apple's legal department does not want anyone distributing an Aqua scheme, so we will not post any such schemes on the Kaleidoscope Scheme Archive. Although Aqua schemes are probably available elsewhere on the web (please do not ask us for URLs), we ask that you respect Apple's right to control its intellectual property and not use these schemes with Kaleidoscope.

It is too early to say. We intend to make a version of Kaleidoscope for Mac OS X. However, unlike applications which can be Carbonized, low level hacks like Kaleidoscope need to be completely rewritten for Mac OS X.

DenyHosts should work under Mac OS/X. You will have to edit your denyhosts configuration file (typically denyhosts.cfg) according to the Mac OS X version that you are running:

The software works with Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later, together with Safari 1.0.2 orlater, or Mozilla 1.5 or later. No special settings are required for Mac OS X.

Unfortunately Mac OS X does the start-up of Java not in the usual way and therefore the standard script may not work. So you have to: Open an unix shell (e.g. bash). - Go to the Genesis home directory. - Change the rights of the GenesisUnix script by typing, e.g. chmod +x GenesisUnix (not necessary using 1.4.0) - Start the program with: ./GenesisMacOSX How can I change the memory settings of Genesis? Genesis is currently set to 1 GBytes of RAM. However, it is quite simple to change the setting.

This article describes how to set up Entourage to access your POP email account. For information on how to create a POP3 email account, go to adding a POP Account. In the Incoming mail server text box, enter your domain name. In the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server text box, enter smtp. followed by your domain name. In the Account ID text box, enter your POP account name (your POPID). In the Password text box, enter your POP account password.

VPN allows you to use the same email configuration away that you use on campus. See Install and Configure Eudora.

If you choose not to use VPN from off-campus and still want to send email through your own broadband provider, you will need to configure your mail client settings as described in the document Configuring Eudora Email When Off-campus. Suggested settings for Verizon and Comcast Cable broadband customers are included in that document.
