The easiest and least confusing way to deal with this would be to have the subject write a very short note on the original consent form itself indicating that the signature already obtained is valid and sign and date that note. In addition a witness who travels by private vehicle will receive 48.5 cents per mile, the same rate that applies to government employees on official travel.
