A nominee is a teacher identified through a public nomination process. Only nominees who complete the application are eligible for selection as a DisneyHand Teacher Awards Honoree. The national selection committee chooses 3 applicants in each of the 10 categories to be DisneyHand Teacher Awards Honorees.

A registered shareholder is the beneficial (real) owner whose name is recorded on the share certificate and in the Register of Shares as the owner of the allotted shares. The membership jury elects applicants to either Signature or Associate membership. Artists can not apply for a specific membership. Applicants who are considered to have reached full maturity as artists are offered Signature membership. Artists who are clearly proficient and demonstrate great promise with room for growth are offered Associate membership.
