As ticks are susceptible to desiccation, they tend not to climb very high in the vegetation. In order to prevent tick bites, one could use body sprays or creams that contain 30% DEET (dietyl-toluamide). Anti-mosquito agents contain less than 30% DEET and therefore are insufficiently effective. Furthermore, it is possible to apply permetrine on clothing.
