The Windows Installer service is a component of Microsoft Windows. Some software installation (or setup) packages require this service. The component copies files and makes registry changes on behalf of the program being installed. Sandboxie does not permit sandboxed programs to use the system Windows Installer. If the sandboxed program needs the service, it will fail and Sandboxie will tell you to start a sandboxed instance of the Windows Installer service.

Server supports up to 4GB of physical RAM and up to 4 processors per computer. Advanced Server supports up to 8GB of RAM and 8 processors per computer. Windows 2000 Datacenter Server is designed for large businesses and computer clusters.

Because Webmail uses the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Outlook Web Access (OWA) interface, it can sense when FrontPage has been installed on the local computer. OWA offers a variety of new HTML editing features through certain FrontPage extensions. To resolve the issue, find the FrontPage CD requested, insert it in your CD drive, and press OK at the prompt. This will allow the installer to find the correct files and install them to your local machine.

Cygwin/X supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 as of 2003-12-29. Cygwin/X requires Cygwin to compile and run. Cygwin is not, as of 2003-12-29, available on Microsoft Windows CE, therefore Cygwin/X is not currently available on Microsoft Windows CE.

Originally Microsoft referred to the technology as MSI, since that was the file extension of the database (installation) that was created. Over the last few months they have started using the term Windows Installer.

For self-hosted WorkRoll installations installed on Windows, there is a "Windows executable" program (such as the installer programs that you would use to install a regular, non-Java Windows application such as iTunes, Microsoft Word, etc.). This program also installs a JSP application server (WorkRoll requires this software to run). Using the Windows executable to install WorkRoll on Windows is optional; users who want more control over their installations have other installation options.

When you install a Windows Installer (.msi) file, a script in the file specifies the actions that Windows Installer will perform. As each action is performed, the process that calls the .msi file into action updates a rollback script and, if files are to be deleted, backs up those files. Then, if the installation fails, Windows Installer can use the rollback script to undo any actions that have been performed and use the file backups to restore any deleted files.

I'm sure I'll take some heat for this answer, but in my opinion it's far more stable. My experience has shown that instability is most often caused by poorly written third party drivers and systems that have been poorly maintained.

In addition to supporting nearly any application for Linux and Solaris, DieHard currently protects Firefox on Windows XP and 2003. DieHard works with Firefox versions 1.5.0.9 and higher, as well as version 2.0.0.1.

Office does not come as standard with any Microsoft Operating system. We don't stock or supply any software... our specialisation is in hardware. Again, if you require software, we recommend you search for it on eBay (simply enter "Microsoft Office" as your search keywords). We are unable to change the Operating System advertised. If a unit is advertised with a specific Operating System, it's because it is prelicensed with it, so we are unable to change it to a different one.

the present time, I do not have plans for a Windows Installer edition of Inno Setup. "Supporting" Windows Installer would likely involve a near-complete rewrite of the program - something I don't have the time or interest to do.

I have Tribes 2 for Windows, there is a Loki logo on the box, doesn't this mean it has the Linux version (or that I am entitled to it?)
