You can't. The Heatproof temperature of our clear paint is 200?C to 300?C. The temperature of muffler rises to 500?C to 600?C, so you can't use a clear. It may be the reason that the nozzle of gun choked with little cleaning or too little dilution to the paint. Therefore, keep the gun clean and increase the dilution of the paint. If these are not the reason, the bore of gun may be too big.

No. I have found the gasket is just a source of problems later. They always seem to get a whole in it which causes an air leak and resulting engine adjustment problems. I just clean the surface of the exhaust flanges and as long as they are flat then it should not leak. None of mine have. The difference is in the process. Conventional paints or single stage paints, layer coats of color paint. These coats build the color, distribute the coverage, and add depth and durability to the paint surface. The exposed pigments of a single stage painted surface can be readily affected by the sun, neglect and the environment, causing oxidation.
