Handcrafted log homes are limited to single stories due to shrinking issues. A handcrafted log home is much more natural looking than a milled log home and is generally a little more costly for the initial shell. To learn more about handcrafted log homes click here. Milled or machine built log homes are generally built from dead standing timber and are therefore not subject to as much shrinking.

In Handcrafted log homes, the naturally tapered logs are hand peeled to reveal the unique character of each log. Connections between logs are hand-scribed and notched by craftsmen to match the unique contour of the adjacent logs in the structure. The logs also run the entire wall length of the home with no butt-joint splices. In Milled log homes, the logs are run through a machine to make every log identical, and to put a smooth (lumber like) surface on the log.

All one really needs to do is take a tour of one style (handcrafted) versus the other (milled) and we are sure you will know what is right for you. We really believe that there is a place for both products in the market and it is really up to you as the consumer to know what you really like in a log home. Balance your desires with a cost effective budget and perhaps location to decide what style you will choose.

You will get maximum benefits from a seed that is Milled or ground before eating. Whole seeds that are not chewed will tend to pass through the body with less nutritional benefit, however, whole seeds are great in recipes, i.e. breads, cookies, salads, yogurts and cereals.

After some testing it was determined that it is possible to use this type of flour. However, the flour has to be measured by weight and not by volume. This is because the texture of home ground flour may differ from store bought. Some home ground flour may be ground too fine or too coarse.
