Other projections (but the same Datum) will be used for specialised purposes. The trouble with an alternative projection is that the grid coordinates will not apply. The only coordinates able to be used will be lat/long degrees. Lambert Conformal is most likely to be used for display including large offshore areas such as the exclusive economic zone.
