Answer - The Channel Service Unit (CSU) receives and transmits signals from and to the WAN (wide area network) line and provides a barrier for electrical interference from either side of the unit. The CSU can also echo loop-back signals from the phone company for testing purposes. Often a CSU and DSU are combined into a single piece of equipment called a CSU/DSU.

The CSU System stands for the California State University System. It includes 23 campuses which accept the top 1/3 of high school graduates. Two local examples are SDSU and CSU San Marcos.

The CSU terminal server number is 212-2222. It supports normal (dumb, vt100) terminal dial-in, as well as SLIP and PPP on its 391 V.90 modems. You will need a lamar/holly account to get in, because the terminal server prompts for user identification. These lines have a 2 hour time limit. If you need to do only a short task, there is also 212-FAST (3278), which has a 10 minute time limit. Of course, there is a catch: you now have to pay to use it.

In 2003, the California State Legislature amended Government Code 11135 to require CSU to implement Section 508 and to apply the federal accessibility standards to the electronic and information technology (EIT) products and services that CSU buys, creates, uses and maintains. Complete the transcript request form from our transcripts office - located in the admissions building. Be sure to check the box for IGETC or CSU certification. By doing so, your official transcript will be sent to the institution you have requested along with notation of certification.

You can renew materials borrowed with your CSU ID online in SCHOLAR. Click on the "My Account" link in the navigation bar at the bottom of this page. The loan period for most CSU books is 4 weeks for undergraduates or 3 months for graduate students, with renewals possible.

Your ID card serves as your Library Card at the CSU Libraries (University and Law) East and West Centers, and any of the OhioLINK libraries for OhioLINK loans. For authentication purposes, you will need your name and ID number when using online databases purchased for your use by CSU.

CSU's all over the state have Blended programs, and some of the work you do at the community college would transfer, but each university has some specific requirements. Before you assume that the courses for CSU Sacramento will work at another institution, inquire at that school's School of Education for complete information.

Outside scholarships and grants can affect the amount of your institutional aid. CSU has an institutional policy called the “Maximum Free Aid Policy,” which limits the amount of free aid a student gets to the cost of attendance + books. If you have enough free aid to cover tuition, room & board and books, the amount of your institutional aid will be decreased. For example, Max Free Aid for the 2003-2004 year is $20,970 for an on-campus student.

Repair your cumulative Colorado State GPA to a 2.0 or higher. To do this, complete course work during the CSU summer session, through the GUEST program (up to 6 credits per semester), or through Continuing Education. Once your cumulative GPA is repaired to 2.0 and you submit an Intent to Return form and $50 processing fee, you will return in good academic standing. Complete more than 12 academic semester credits with a GPA of 2.5 or better at another institution after leaving Colorado State.

No, only courses taken at CSU will affect your GPA. Transfer courses will count toward graduation requirements but are not factored into your CSU GPA.
