Panels are .062" aluminum that is sanded vertically to give it a nice finish, then the edges are masked and the panel is painted with a coat of 'Polane' industrial paint. A very light splatter coat is put on top of that, then the panels are silkscreen printed. See this up-close picture of a panel. The paint finishes used on our panels are the highest quality. We start out with a high-tensile steel. We then coat it with a Galvalume 55% zinc, 45% aluminum coating. They are next pre-treated with primer, and then finally coated with a high quality baked-on enamel paint system.

All races share the same finish in beautiful Chumash Park. Look for the large red arch. All races finish on the grass. For spectators, the last tenth of a mile is highly visible from many locations in the park.

We utilize a high-end industrial powder coat finishing process for our tin backsplash panels. This is superior to any paint product in resisting acids, solvents, impact, abrasions and heat. For customers purchasing unfinished tin backsplash panels we recommend a minimum of a polyurethane clear coat be applied to the tin as a protectant.

Install over existing plaster or drywall onto studs - wood, or metal. The dry wall backing does provide some added strength to the panels – installing directly onto studs should be for applications that do not require maximum load carrying capacities). Panel adhesive is recommended for more permanent installations. Drywall screws of the proper length work the best. Drive the screws through the backs of the groove (be careful not to damage the groove lips).

Solexx greenhouses are made with polyethylene. Polyethylene is much more flexible and is easy to cut to any size. Polycarbonate panels tend to be thicker, but have about the same insulation factor as polyethylene. Both materials diffuse light, but polycarbonate diffuses less (because it is more transparent), making the greenhouses much hotter in the summer. Polyethylene is very easy to clean and will not scratch like polycarbonate.

Solexx panels can be cut with a simple utility knife. Because the material is so flexible, it’s also possible to bend it around many curves and corners on a structure.

Generally there is no need to do so. In fact, most of the epoxy finish manufacturers recommend against it. If you need a less viscous finish for easier application, slightly warm the bottles containing the hardener and resin. You can do this in a microwave oven (tops loosened and heated for no more than 10 seconds - use caution), in a pan of hot water, from the heat of a hair dryer, or by putting them in your pants pockets for about 15 minutes (you have to be wearing the pants for this to work).

Asphalt shingles, though reasonably priced, don't deliver the best in looks or performance.
