A point spread function is the impulse response function of an imaging system, which makes image restoration possible by deconvolution. A PSF of an imaging system can be obtained by imaging a point light source or it can be estimated theoretically. 3D-DOCTOR has a function to create a synthetic PSF when one is not available.
