What's the difference between my Meal Plan and More Dollars?

All residential students are required to participate in a meal plan which varies based on where you live on campus. Payment is made at the beginning of the each semester along with tuition and other fees. More Dollars is a prepaid spending account that is accepted at all dining locations on campus, the campus bookstore, all dining locations, select vending machines, Art & Design, Telecommunications, Health Services, and popular off-campus businesses.

What is the difference between the Meal Plan Dining Dollars and Flex Dollars?

Dining Dollars is a meal plan and can ONLY be used in dining halls. It can also be used to purchase pre-packaged food/beverage items. Flex dollars, on the other hand, can be used in vending machines, laundry machines, at the campus bookstore, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, public copiers, dining halls as well at off-campus Merchants.

What do I do if I run out of Dining Dollars on my meal plan before the end of the semester?

You can purchase Flex Dollars and add them to your Connect Card at any time. You can purchase Flex Dollars with cash, check or credit card in the Student Accounts Office in Boyden Hall or online using a credit card. There are also three cash to card machines located in the Campus Center, Library and in East Campus Commons available to purchase Flex Dollars.

My son / daughter ran out of Dining Dollars on thier meal plan, what do I do?

You can add funds to your student's meal plan by calling the Campus Access Office at (401) 874-2055. Please have your student's ID number ready. It is NOT their social security number. This number can be obtained from the term bill or the front of the student's ID card. There is a $25.00 minimum on all Visa and Mastercard Transactions.

Can I add more meals, Dining Dollars or Guest Passes to my meal plan?

If you have a block plan and run out of blocks before the end of the semester, you may purchase 10 blocks for $50.00 (a savings of $12.50) at CAS. You cannot add Dining Dollars or Guest Passes to your meal plan. You can however, increase your purchasing power by depositing and using Cardinal Cash on and off campus!

Why do I have fewer Dining Dollars than I expected after I upgraded my meal plan?

It is important to understand that Dining Dollars on higher priced plans are discounted compared to Dining Dollars on less expensive plans. For example, a Dining Dollar on the Freedom Gold plan costs approximately $2.46, whereas a Dining Dollar on the Freedom Platinum Plan costs approximately $2.15. This means that every Dining Dollar spent on the Freedom Gold plan is $0.31 that is not available after an upgrade to the Freedom Platinum plan.

Puma Points are the declining balance part of your dining plan that allows you to purchase entire meals at the Cafeteria, or a variety of a la carte items in The HUB (Halleck Underground Bistro). When I change a meal plan I can not find the changes. What happened to them?

Within the application a meal plan can be changed at either the client level or globally. If you make changes on the client screen (the Meal Plan Tab) those changes will only be for the client. To find those changes select the "Previous Plans" radio button. You can see the changed plan. Now you may modify or print it. To make changes to a meal plan that will be reflected for all clients select Nutrition/Add/Edit Meal Plan from the menu.

Must I have a Meal Plan?

Yes, if you live in a residence hall with standard or "suite-style" rooms, you have to participate in the meal plan program each semester. This is part of the agreement made with the bond holders of the debt service on the dining halls.
