What is the lethal dose of Diphenhydramine Hcl?

Erowid Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) Vault : Dramamine (and oth...
The LD50 of Diphenhydramine in rats is 500mg/kg. For humans it is not known, so be careful! Lethal doses in humans are almost always far less than lethal doses in rats (allowing for body weight differences), so don't try to take the rat LD50 and apply it to yourself. Also, note that the LD50 is the dose at which 50% of the subjects will die. A lower dose will still kill a smaller proportion of the subjects - i.e. it may be that the LD10 (i.e. 10% mortality) for rats is just 100 mg/kg.

How does diphenhydramine Hcl and dimenhydrinate work?

Erowid Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) Vault : Dramamine (and oth...
Antihistamines generally, and Diphenydramine Hcl specifically, act by antagonizing histamine at the site of the H1 histamine receptor. Antihistamines dry up the secretion of the nose, throat, and eyes. They relieve itch and will help you go to sleep. Dimenhydrinate depresses the middle-ear function, but the way in which it actually prevents nausea, vomiting, or dizziness is not known. However, these drugs are not just antihistamines. They have a significant amount of anticholinergic activity. See similar questions...

How Toxic is DXM, and What is the Lethal Dose?

Erowid DXM Vault : DXM FAQ - Side Effects
The LD50 (dose at which 50% of animals die) of DXM doesn't seem to be well known. For a variety of reasons, animal assays of the lethal dose of psychoactives aren't always accurate. Nor have I ever found a published LD50 for DXM. So instead, I've decided to go on the basis of the few deaths that have occurred from DXM use, keeping in mind the amount of DXM people regularly consume for recreational purposes. Can GHB be lethal?

Life-Enhancement.com Article - Print
Not likely. Everybody reported to have been "poisoned" with GHB has "fully recovered," even a man who took 15 tablespoons (50-75 gm). There have been no long-term consequences identified in any of these cases despite close observation by attending physicians. It is exceedingly difficult to ingest the 50 to 150 gm that might threaten life. In high doses, for example, GHB causes nausea and vomiting, which strongly limits the maximum amount that a person can consume. See similar questions...

Are fire ants as lethal as killer bees?

Texas Imported Fire Ant Research and Management Project
This is kind of like comparing apples to oranges. They both attack en masse and can both cause fatal allergic reactions, but that's where the similarities end. Africanized bees can overwhelm and kill even healthy non-allergic people, but encounters are rather rare. Fire ants can't overwhelm a healthy, mobile person and even hundreds of stings are rarely fatal. But, fire ant mounds are extremely common. See similar questions...
