Rooms are painted by our facilities personnel. If you believe your room needs to be painted, please make a request through your building’s resident director to accomplish this.

The Victorians, and people generally up until the 1930s, used to paint black around the edges of the rooms and place a rug in the middle. This was the fashion of the day. We can usually sand 99% of this out of the floor. If the whole floor is painted black, an extra charge is made to cover the extra work.

Students are not permitted to paint their rooms or their doors. The cost of returning resident rooms to a standard condition is increased when students personalize their rooms/doors in this way. There are many other ways to personalize your space.

Residents are permitted to paint their room with a light shade of latex paint - a shade that can be covered with one coat of white paint. They must first complete the APPLICATION FOR PAINTING A RESIDENCE HALL ROOM, pay a deposit that is returned upon inspection & approval.

We offer both private and semi-private rooms. If you would prefer to reserve a private room, please inform us at the earliest possible time to insure that space will be available.

Brief exposure to water-based paints and similar compounds in a well-ventilated area should not pose a significant risk to the fetus. If you plan on painting the room we suggest doing this prior to the new floor being installed. Old carpet, vinyl, etc make for a great drop rag. If you plan on wallpapering, we suggest this project be completed after the new floor is installed. Some flooring products have stiff backs and can damage wallpaper and painted walls quite easily. Touching up a painted area requires minimal work. Touching up a wallpapered area can be a daunting task.

NO. In essence we retouch the painting only where paint is missing or worn, avoiding interfering with the original work of the artist. Retouching is painstaking and time-consuming, using fine sable brushes, working on small areas at a time, ensuring a perfect colour mix and matching the artist’s original brush strokes. We follow the ethical restoration standards of minimal intervention and reversibility.

I also paint on leather, as well as any other vehicles, RVs, wall murals, etc. I use both airbrush to put in a soft background and special effects, and brush to get the fine detail. The paint, once dry, is very flexible and will not crack or chip.
