The most likely explanation is that you have rendered the movie at a higher resolution than your computer can play back with the QuickTime compressor (codec) with which the movie was rendered. Keep in mind that full-motion video at broadcast resolution can not be played back by most computers unless it was rendered with a QuickTime compressor designed for computer play back.
