g -What do you mean by impedance (Ohms)?

Marshall Amps :: Frequently Asked Questions
Impedance is the load connecting to the speaker socket on the amplifier or combo to give maximum power transference. This must match the stated impedance value on the amplifier or combo to ensure no damage can be caused to the speaker or amplifier. See similar questions...

Where can I find old-style high-impedance (2,000 ohms or more) headphones?

HeadWize - Headphone FAQs
By modern standards, the term "high impedance" when applied to headphones usually means anything between 100 and 600 ohms, but in the not too distant past, headsets of 2,000 ohms or more were in common use. These old-style hi-Z headsets have steel or mica diaphragms and are very efficient, achieving high volume with only millivolts of input. See similar questions...

What is impedance?

Sola/Hevi-Duty
Impedance is defined as the vector sum of resistance and reactance which limits the current flow in an AC circuit. When dealing with a transformer, impedance indicates the current limiting effect should you have a short circuit on the secondary. Expressed as a percentage and usually designated as %IZ, impedance along with X/R ratio is used for coordination of fuses and/or circuit breakers. It is also used for calculating the proper interrupting rating of overcurrent protection devices. See similar questions...

What Does G-D Mean?

CyberRev.com FAQ
There are many beliefs, religions, lifestyles and denominations of the world. We do NOT wish to add to theologiocal, political, or atheist, debates of confusion that sabotage living of the biblical eyesalve that many people require of truth. At CyberRev.com we aim to stand out promoting a 'colorless' spiritual unified body of Christ in the now. That is a body that exemplifies a non denominational, Ten Commandment keeping movement that also believe that Israel as the Kingdom of God is, within. See similar questions...

Can I run the unit below 4 ohms load?

Technical Support
Well, probably. The MA 6S will not be damaged but you will obtain much less power output, and an extremely hot amplifier. To protect itself the MA 6S will current limit to the best of its ability. The MA 3 will current limit also and its fan must be set to high speed. Be forewarned that running below rated impedance voids the warranty and may damage the amplifier channels as well as power supply. See similar questions...

What are 'ohms per square'?

Four Point Probes by Jandel Engineering Limited
The unit of measurement when measuring the resistance of a thin film of a material using the four point probe technique. It is equal to the resistance between two electrodes on opposite sides of a theoretical square. The size of the square is unimportant. See similar questions...

What are 'ohms-centimeter'?

Four Point Probes by Jandel Engineering Limited
The unit of measurement when measuring the bulk or volume resistivity of thick or homogeneous materials such as bare silicon wafers or silicon ingots, using the four point probe technique. RESISTIVITY is the inherent property of the material which gives it electrical resistance. It is sometimes called Specific Resistance. Sheet resistance is the resistance of a thin sheet of material which when multiplied by the thickness (in cm) gives the value of resistivity. See similar questions...

Q. What does low impedance mean?

Parker McCrory Mfg Co
In non-technical terms, low impedance means the fence charger is designed to effectively shock through vegetation and other foreign matters contacting the charged wire. Vegetation such as grass, weeds, vines, etc., contacting the charged wire tend to impede or stop the flow of electricity by "grounding out" the fence. This is a common problem which exists on most electric fence installations. See similar questions...

a - What is the impedance of my cabinet?

Marshall Amps :: Frequently Asked Questions
Your cabinet should have a model number and rating plate on the back, if there is no rating plate the cabinet will need to have the impedance measured by an engineer. We do not recommend using the cabinet until the impedance has been checked as it could damage both your amplifier and cabinet if either is used incorrectly. If your cabinet has a rating plate the impedance of the cabinet must match the impedance of the amplifier you are connecting it to. See similar questions...

What should I know about my speakers' impedance?

Amplifiers - FAQ
Impedance is the load value that your speakers present to your power source — the amount of resistance they provide to the current flowing from your amplifier. While it's convenient to refer to a speaker's impedance as being a fixed value (say, 4 ohms) over a speaker's entire frequency range, the impedance typically varies with the frequency of the input signal. So when we say a speaker is a 4-ohm speaker, think of this rating as a useful approximation. See similar questions...

How do I convert from ohms per square to ohms-centimetre?

Four Point Probes by Jandel Engineering Limited
The term Ohms-cm (Ohms centimeter) refers to the measurement of the "bulk" or "volume" resistivity of a semi-conductive material. Ohms-cm is used for measuring the conductivity of a three dimensional material such as a silicon ingot or a thick layer of a material. The term "Ohms-per-square" is used when measuring sheet resistance, i.e., the resistance value of a thin layer of a semi-conductive material. See similar questions...

Ohms Per Square What?

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about custom thermoforming ...
It doesn’t matter. Ohms per square is the unit of an electrical measurement of surface resistivity across any given square area of a material. It is the measurement of the opposition to the movement of electrons across an area of a material's surface and normalized to a unit square. This measurement is intended to be a basic material parameter and not dependent on absolute area, length or thickness. See similar questions...

I-G. What is a standby ?

CRYONICS − FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
A standby describes the circumstance of a team of cryonics-emergency support people standing by the bedside of a patient waiting for the heart to stop − and for legal pronouncement of death. Once a qualified medical professional has pronounced death the standby team can begin cardiopulmonary support (heart compression and ventilation) and cooldown to preserve the living tissues and organs of the cryonics patient. What does "Open G#" mean?

Larry Krantz Flute Pages - FLUTE FAQ
First The G# hole which is the one under the pad connected to the G# lever on a closed G# flute does NOT exist. Second the two keys which go down together when the third finger of the left hand is depressed are totally independent. The lower one of these two keys (the one nearer the footjoint) is directly soldered to the G# lever. When playing this type of flute for the first time, the most obvious difference is that for all notes below G, the G# key must be continually depressed. See similar questions...

Why am I "G-lined" and what does this mean?

This could be due to many factors. It may be that you failed to follow our AUP, or your whole ISP has been banned due to abuse. As much as we dislike doing this, if your ISP fails to comply with our Abuse reports, we are often left with no alternative until they take action. You may have also been banned by our Proxy Scanner, which has detected you are using some form of insecure proxy/wingate. See similar questions...

What is Impedance or Characteristic Impedance ?

Comant - FAQs
The characteristic impedance of a transmission line or antenna can be defined in terms of the ratio of the voltage and current amplitudes, and the incident and reflected waves. VSWR has a similar general relationship in its definition. For communication systems, the 50-ohm characteristic impedance has become the adopted standard. It is the result of an industry compromise between maximum and minimum voltage and current handling of a transmission line. See similar questions...

Can you simply explain Ohms and resistance?

Fhrx Studios - Audio / Visual Specialists
Well lets see? Put simply, Ohms is the measurement of electrical resistance and system impedance. It is a measure of the degree to which electrons are limited in both velocity and quantity in passing through a circuit. In Impedance measurements, this takes into account, the mechanical resistance inherent in the motion of transducers. The standard is usually 4 ohms for car audio and 8 ohms for home and commercial audio. Some specialty woofers may be rated at 2, 6, 12 or even 16 ohms. See similar questions...
