That all depends on what type of hitch receiver you have. Most trucks will have a Class III Hitch receiver which will require a 2 inch Hitch Cover. However some trucks have a class II Hitch Receiver which requires a 1.25 inch Hitch Cover.

For a Class III Hitch receiver which will require a 2 inch Hitch Cover you will need a 5/8 inch locking hitch pin. For a Class II Hitch receiver which will require a 1.25 inch inch Hitch Cover you will need a 1/2 inch locking hitch pin.

The most common size hitch balls are 1-7/8" to 2", depending on your trailer's coupler. Larger sizes up to 2-5/16" are available for commercial-type towing needs. Check your coupler - the recommended size will be stamped on the top. U-Haul trailers will work with either the 1-7/8" or the 2" hitch balls. They start at $8.95 and come with the clamp-indicating fastener, an exclusive U-Haul safety feature. Hitch balls can be purchased from the U-Haul Store.

You remove hitch cover from packaging then simply unfold the stainless wire form. Slip the stainless wire form into the square receiver hole diagonally until it is snug. Then, insert your pin (not included) and secure with clip or lock (not included). If wire back is too long, simply place wire ends in opposite corner holes then reinsert wire back and proceed with pin placements.

Our hitch covers are extremely durable. You simply wash them with mild soap and water. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth or chammy, just as you would wash your vehicle. Coarse brushes or use of caustic cleaners are not recommended.

Only Other Than Collision coverage is provided for accidents that occur in Mexico less than 25 miles from the border on trips that are less than 10 day in length. That depends. If your toolbox is the conventional type of toolbox that sits on top of the rails (like the vast majority of the pickup truck tool boxes), you will have to remove the toolbox to install the cover. However, if you have a toolbox that sets down inside the pickup truck bed and is below the rails of your truck, you can mount the cover right over the toolbox without any problems.

Answer: A frame mounted Class III or Class IV receiver hitch is mandatory for safe hauling, and is the only hitch that is legal in all states. This type of hitch is bolted or welded to the frame of the tow vehicle and has a square receiver for a slide in ball mount (called a draw-bar). The draw-bar itself can be purchased with the proper drop so the trailer travels absolutely level.
