yep - you need to keep your scalp clean to keep the itchies away [ a couple of times a week, if that, is fine ], but you don't need to get the actual dreads sopping wet and covered in shampoo. i usually put them up in a big bun to keep them out of the way, then scrub my scalp clean and let it the shampoo rinse away. you might want to tie a plastic bag around your dreads to stop them from getting wet, but being made from synthetic fibre, they tend to dry out quite quickly.

They'll retain the water as well and thus take a long time to dry. It's rather inconvenient so it's best avoidable as much as possible.
