Do Birmans shed a lot?
CallisteCats FAQVery little - what you've heard is true! Most cats have long guard hairs (the ones you pet) and very short and fine body hairs. The body hairs are the ones that float in the air and get in your nose. Birman grooming habits are such that they tend to pick a favorite place (or three) to groom themselves, and when they are done you will find a little twisted clump of hair on the floor.
Do they shed a lot?
The Klee KaiYes, they shed twice a year. They blow their coat each time and require plenty of brushing during this period. Of course when you are looking at a 10 to 20 pound dog, there isn't nearly as much hair as regular sized husky. I have allergies and these dogs don't aggravate them, so some people who are allergic to dogs may be able to tolerate these, probably because they are such clean dogs. See similar questions...
Do Birmans require a lot of grooming?
Abirwood Birmans - Frequently Asked QuestionsNo. Birmans are single coated cats and do not have an undercoat. Therefore, the coat is non-matting. A quick combing or brushing once or twice a week is all the attention that a Birman's coat needs. Many people groom their Birman daily as an enjoyable bonding time for both owner and kitty. Bathing is not required, especially if the kitty is brushed regularly. See similar questions...

Do Westies shed a lot?
Westie - FAQYvonne says: Not if they are kept groomed. Westies' old, dead hairs don't fall out. What will happen is that an unbrushed Westie will get bigger and bigger looking until eventually he looks like a walking bundle of hair. If he gets anywhere close to this look, the hair will rub off against objects the dog touches - walls, fences, furniture and human legs, just to name a few. See similar questions...
Do Birmans get along with other pets?
Abirwood Birmans - Frequently Asked QuestionsYes. Your Birman will be lonely while you are away. He will prefer the company of at least one other pet, so we urge people to consider getting two kittens together. We do understand, though, if your situation prohibits you from having a second pet. A Birman kitten can also establish a friendship with a cat, a dog, or even a rabbit already in residence with you. Although the predatory instinct persists, your Birman will even enjoy the company of a caged bird. See similar questions...
