How do you make such wonderful comics?

THE HOOJIE CREW: [FAQ]
You flatter me. The process is quite simple. I think of a gag, any old gag based on either true events or something equally stupid my mind comes up with. I do rough sketches of the lineart in #2 Bic Mechanical pencil, in the layout I want them to end up for the final phase. Then, if I like what I see (and even sometimes when I don't) I ink the pencils with a .03 Staedtler Pen (Micron tips get screwed up too easily cuz I press harder than normal). Then I erase all the penciling.

How do you make the comics, how do you do your special effects?

Fragile-Minds.com presents: Crash & Bass!
Making the comic is basically as simple as cutting out paper figures and glueing them to... something. In this case, it's taking a background from a game, pasting the sprites in, and then just adding text and balloons. As for special effects like lighting and some shooting effects, I use Paint Shop Pro and just combine the effects it comes with to create lighting, blurring, and everything else. You can get a demo version of Paint Shop Pro, or it's big brother, Photoshop, from Download.com.

Sheldon, the Daily Comic Strip by Dave Kellett :: FAQ
For the last six years or so, I’ve tended to use pretty nice cartooning materials, as I sell my original art online and in galleries. But if you’re a young cartoonist just starting out, you certainly don’t need to get all fancy-shmancy like that. You can use whatever you have at hand. Cartoons are good like that: no need for pretension or expensive equipment. Archival Faber-Castell Pitt pens, the ones with the “B” (brush) tip.

Slightly Damned the Webcomic - Frequently Asked Questions
Once I have an idea for a comic I get some paper and I draw out a little "thumbnail" of what the page's layout will be. I usually have a bunch of these on a single sheet of paper so I know how the story will progress. Sometimes I write the dialogue for the pages in a text document on notepad to keep me on track. Then on another piece of paper I draw the comic with a regular mechanical pencil.
