We can make floorboards but in general do not recommend them for a number of reasons. First, they add weight when for a yacht tender you probably would rather bring along an extra person, or your dog or groceries along than have floorboards. Second they reduce the clearance between your knees and the oars, making it more difficult to row in the chop when you might prefer to lift your oars a bit higher on the recovery stroke to clear the tops of the waves.

Timber floorboards can be easily maintained by simply mopping over with a damp mop. Your initial choice of timber can influence how much housework you will be doing. Darker coloured timbers show the dust and dirt much faster that say Ash or Tasmanian Oak, which disguise the dirty marks much better.

Installing floorboards in the same direction as joists is not recommended as joist movement can cause spaces to form between boards. If boards cannot be installed perpendicular to joists, add 1/2'' plywood panels to the existing subfloor, making sure you stagger the joints of the two subfloors.

Special adhesives and grouts are available that absorb vibration and allow us to fit on wooden substrates.
