What kind of spokes and nipples do the wheels use?

Real Design - FAQs
Our UltraSonic and UltraSphere use straight pull Sapim bladed spokes and DT ProLock nipples. The SuperSonic and SuperSphere wheels use straight pull butted DT spokes and DT Prolock nipples. Please refer to the chart for spoke length and tension. Since changing a broken spoke may require partial hub disassembly, we recommend that your local bike shop preform this service. Warning: never try to straighten a J-bend spoke as a substitute for a straight pull spoke.

What kind of wheels do recumbents use?

faqs
The 26-inch (559 mm) rear wheel and 20-inch (406 mm) front wheel combination is the most popular. Reasons for using other sizes would be more performance (650c or 700c), lowering of the seat (combos using 20- and 16-inch wheels), or making a bike more compact (20/16 combos). Small wheels don't perform as well, wear more quickly, and have less gyroscopic inertia than their larger counterparts. Small rims and tire sizes can be more difficult to find.

What kind of grease should I use for my wheels?

ENGEL'S COACH SHOP
This is one area of concern that is sometimes made to be more of an issue than it needs to be. The old homemade grease mixture of lard and tar concoction, to the production axle grease, doubtfully compares to the quality of greases we have available today. The open boxing style wheels do require constant maintenance, but using a quality wheel bearing grease is, in my opinion, still far superior to what was available back when.

What wheels do I use?

Untitled
It is mandatory for you to have a set of bigfoots or similar functional tyre plus a spare tube & tyre because we expect to see a few punctures. It is advisable to take some measures to reduce punctures such as lining the inside the wheel with some sort of insulating material or use some commercial available product to stop leeks.

Why are the nipples on the rear wheels different colors?

Wheel FAQs
The rear wheel features brass nipples on the drive side and alloy nipples on the non-drive side. Alloy nipples are lighter than brass, so we use alloy everywhere we prudently believe them to work best. We use brass nipples on the drive side of the rear wheel because skill levels of mechanics vary. When high tension is involved, it's generally easier to true a wheel that is built with brass nipples.

Why doesn't Easton use bladed spokes?

Wheel FAQs
We carefully considered using bladed spokes, but decided against it. In wind tunnel tests, bladed (and ovalized - hereafter "profiled") spokes have proven to be very effective. The caveat here is that they show their greatest advantages vis-a-vis round spokes when the airflow is from straight ahead.

The normal 5 bolt pattern for most Porsche cars is 5 x 128mm. The 4-bolt cars use a 4 x 108mm pattern. More info on wheel offsets and sizes can be found in the Technical Section. Here is a list of other (non-Porsche) cars which use the same 4x108mm pattern (from http://www.mr2.com/TEXT/WheelBoltPatterns.txt).
