ETS will send your scores electronically to the UW Graduate School as long as you use the institution code, 4854. Both 2016 and 2001 codes will be routed to us in the Psychology Department. We can look them up once you have submitted your application to the Graduate School, provided that you use the institution code as shown above.

I have no formal Computer Science and Engineering training and wish to apply to the graduate program. I'm in another (civil, environmental, mechanical) engineering program and want to switch to your graduate program and start taking courses. I'm working full-time, have no formal training in Computer Science and Engineering, and want to work on my M.S. degree in CSE.

Our institution code is (5332) for both the GRE and TOEFL exams. Our department code for TOEFL is (78) and for GRE is (0402).

For foreign applications, we require a TOEFL score of 600. While your GRE score is important, we have no specific cut-off for GRE scores, and consider the GRE score to be just one part of your overall application. All applicants must submit a GRE score to be considered for fellowships or graduate teaching assistantships.

The GRE school code for Carnegie Mellon is 2074 and the Department of Mechanical Engineering department code is 1502. The TOEFL code is 68. It is acceptable for your GRE and TOEFL score reports to arrive after the application deadline as long as it is during the committee review process. Having your reports arrive after the deadline will not affect your chances of being admitted or of receiving financial aid unless it is after the final decisions have all been made.

The department code, leave blank. That will get your official score to the Admission's Office who requires the official report. They will then forward the scores to our department. If you wish, you may send unofficial reports directly to our department, however, the Admission's Office still requires official reports for your application to become complete.

The last acceptable deadline to take the GRE or TOEFL is in December. It is strongly recommended that you take the test prior to the application deadline. The January test dates are typically too late.

For the TOEFL: Use institution code 4833 and department code 18. If you have already taken the TOEFL, please make sure that the Educational Testing Service (ETS) sends your scores to both UC Berkeley and Journalism.

The GRE and TOEFL scores should be sent directly from ETS to Cornell University, university code 2098. Xeroxed copies of student scores do not constitute official scores. You should plan to take the tests allowing enough time for the official scores to arrive before the Field deadline; generally this process takes 3-4 weeks; however, it is recommended that the tests be taken no later than October due to the large volume of testing that occurs after that time.

Once you ask ETS to send score reports to UCSB, please allow two to three weeks for processing. Once your scores have arrived, Graduate Division will update your application status.

The Graduate Division does not set minimum score requirements for the GRE. For international applicants required to take the TOEFL or IELTS, the minimum TOEFL score is 550 when taking the paper based test, 213 when taking the computer based test, and 80 when taking the internet based test. The minimum IELTS score for consideration is an Overall Band Score of 7 or higher. TOEFL or IELTS scores can be no more than two years old at the time of application.
