The WinTV-PVR does not have MPEG decoding hardware, only encoding hardware. However, the WinTV-PVR will use software decoding for the playback and pause functions.

Artwork for all custom sign letters, plaques and logos need to be vector based. Vector--eps, ai, dxf, cdr--(not jpeg, gif or bitmap) files are required for provided production artwork. Art charges of $25.00 or more apply to non-compliant art to facilitate file conversions. NO art charges for text-only, standard-size plaques. Bitmaps, tiffs, gifs and jpegs are welcomed for layout & logo submissions.

the WinTV is connected to the Sound card, it uses one of the Sound cards Mixer settings to control the volume. This setting can be selected in the WinTV Audio configuration. If you click on the AUD button located in the WinTV2000 application you can select the Audio Mixer Input here. When you adjust the Volume control in the WinTV application, you are really just adjusting the level of a single Volume control from your sound card's mixer (Windows “Volume Control”).

The WinTV-PVR will function under Windows98SE (Second Edition), WindowsME, Windows2000, and Windows XP. It will not function under Windows 95 or NT 4.0

Yes, you can edit the MPEG files with any 3rd party editing software that works with MPEG formats. Hauppauge also provides on our Software Updates page an MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video editor for use with the PVR. If you intend to make a VCD compatible file, you would need to capture in MPEG 1 format, save in MPEG-1 format, do your editing, and then compress the file to VCD compliance in the WinTV software (or in the editing software if it has such a setting built in).

The stability of the WinTV operation or hardware functioning correctly may be impaired on dual CPU systems.

The data is saved using SQLite and is in that binary format. If you want external access to this data, we plan to export it as an XML file similar in format to the iTunes file but this has not been implemented yet.

The formats available are JPG, PNG, and GIF. All GIF images will be automatically converted to JPG images to assist in thumbnailing. Therefore, animated GIFs that are uploaded will not animate! However, be sure to check these settings on the 'Upload Pic' page!!! The administrator may have changed them for any number of reasons. Go back to the 'Upload Pic' page and make sure you are following all of the directions there.

NTSC format is the American TV standard, as opposed to PAL the Australian TV standard. If you experience problems watching an NTSC-formatted disc (e.g. it appears in black & white), don't blame your DVD player, the culprit is more likely your TV. Please check your TV's manual or confirm with the manufacturer for more information. NOTE : Our full title information indicates video stamdards so always note this if you have a non NTSC-formatted TV.
