There are many factors that can cause a printer to print slowly from an Operating System, Application. However, there is a small setting in the Lipi Windows 95/98 drivers that may improve the printer's performance. The Lipi Drivers have a default printing matrix set to 360 x 360 dpi (dot per inch) resolution. This resolution value can be reduced easily to 180 x 180 without creating print quality reductions. This 180 x180 resolution will increase the printing speed of each character.

It's very useful because it means that if you set two series connected filters at the same frequency (filters # 1 and 3 or 2 and 4) the boost or cut value of each filter sums. Simply stated you get up to plus or minus 24 dB of adjustment through the use of a pair of filters.

The printer should print the directory listing in 40-column mode. To check the lines, do a regular directory listing:

If the only problem is that the printer is terribly slow, try changing your printer po rt mode as discussed in the Printer Setup section of the Handbook.

Answer: Yes! We have a serial cable that will work on most serial dot matrix and laser printers. It is a DB9 to DB25 null modem cable. If the communications port on your computer has a DB25 connector, you will also need the 9 to 25 adapter for this cable. We can also provide a DB25 to RJ45 serial adapter if necessary. To find these items, place the word "cable" in the search window (located at the top left side of each web page).

Whenever using the serial or parallel port, you should always use the AC adapter. These ports require about as much power as the Portfolio and will quickly drain the batteries.

NT4 does not have usb support, and we recommend our users to use either Win 98 or Win 2000. We can offer support for NT4 only for large customers under special conditions for our devices- including usb to serial or parallel.

To install a printer locally with RDP, follow the instructions: On the server, click on Start > Parameters > Printers > Add a printer > Local printer > Itium: LPT1 > brand and model of printer.

This can vary depending on which model of Lipi printer you have. As a general rule you should use a good quality parallel (sometimes also called centronics) cable no longer than 2 meters in length. Some of our models do allow for a slightly longer length (please see printer user/operator manual). The reason for this is that the data coming along the parallel cable can lose it's signal strength the further it has to travel.

A000030: If you use the serial port for printing or plotting you need to put the DOS MODE command into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to set up the serial port before you run DANCAD3D.COM (tm) (if DOS MODE is in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file your serial port will be automatically set up each time you turn your computer on.) Some plotters require a "NUL MODEM" type serial port cable to operate.

In version 1, your serial number is printed on a white label on the front of the sleeve of the CD-ROM. It may also be printed on a label on the outside of the white shipping box. The format of the serial number is XXXX-YYYY-YYY-YYY where XXXX are letters. In release 1.0.1, it does not matter whether you type a zero or the letter 'o' for '0' nor whether you type a one or the letter 'i' for "1". In release 1.0, be sure to type one, not 'i', and zero, not 'o'.
