Did JB develop an untold origin for Wolverine while he was working on X-MEN?

Byrne Robotics: FAQ
I remember Roger Stern asked John to set down Wolverine's origin which would be hinted at but never printed. And as I recall it went something like this.... Wolverine was born in the Canadian West in the 1920s living a rough and tumble life. His mutant healing factor manifested itself in his teens. When WWII rolled around, Wolverine signed up with the Canadian Army (never being one to back away from a good scrap).

Did Chris Claremont want to kick Wolverine out of the X-Men?

Byrne Robotics: FAQ
JB: Chris and Dave never cared much for the character. Nightcrawler was Dave's creation, and his fave, and he put so much emphasis on Kurt (including adding new "powers" almost every issue!!) that we used to joke around the office that the book should be called NIGHTCRAWLER (Co-Starring the X-Men). I don't think they had a definite issue number selected for Logan's eviction, but from the way Chris talked, it would not have been much longer, had Dave continued on the title.

Why did JB change Wolverine's costume?

Byrne Robotics: FAQ
JB: I wanted to change Wolverine's duds from the first moment I set eyes on him. Yellow and blue? That's a football team, not a wild animal! And an AMERICAN football team, no less! So as soon as I could, I gave Wolverine the brown-on-brown costume. (I still remember Jim Lee telling me proudly that he had given Wolverine his "real" costume [the yellow and blue one] back. And I remember the long pause on the other end of the phone when I mentioned I was the one who had changed the costume.

Why did the X-Men lose their invisibility to electronic scanners?

After the X-Men died in Dallas during Fall of the Mutants (UXM #227), they were resurrected by Roma via the Siege Perilous. One of the gifts Roma gave the X-Men was that they were invisible to electronic scanners, television cameras, and so forth, to better help cement their reputation as "legends".

Mimic is Calvin Rankin, the son of a scientist, who got caught in an explosion in his father's lab, and gained the ability to copy superpowers of every superhuman near him, and keep all the powers until the people he stole them from were over a mile away or so. He's been killed a number of times in a variety of filler stories, and brought back just as often to just die again.

Why didn't Iceman appear as a guest-star during JB's run on X-MEN?

Byrne Robotics: FAQ
JB: The simplest reason of all. As I discovered in my days working with him in THE CHAMPIONS, Iceman is surprisingly hard to draw. It was not until HIDDEN YEARS that I "found" a version I was happy with. Back then, people would often lay claim to characters (especially villains) and no one could use them because something was "in the works" -- and then never happened. (12/11/2004)

Did more women than men get EMS?

Eosinophilia-Myalgia Syndrome FAQ

How did my child develop autism?

Autism Speaks, Be Informed, What is Autism, FAQs
No one knows for sure. Though it's understandable to expect that a disorder as common as autism would have a known cause, in many ways it's still quite mysterious. Recent studies suggest a strong genetic basis for autism -- up to 20 sets of genes may play a part in its development. Genetics alone, however, can't account for all the cases, and so scientists are also looking into possible environmental origins, as well as other triggers.

How did the idea of intervention develop?

Intervention Center - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Family intervention, where family and friends band together and encourage a drinker to accept help for his drinking, has been used successfully for over thirty years, ever since Vernon Johnson first began experimenting with the technique in the early 1960's. This intervention technique was and continues to be the standard against which all further developments are compared and measured. And rightfully so.

Q3: When did Gambit first appear in the pages of the X-Men?

GambitGuild - Gambit FAQ
A3: We were first introduced to the man known as Gambit in the late summer of 1990. His first appearance continuity-wise occurred in Uncanny X-Men 266. Due to different release dates, we first caught glimpse of him in Uncanny X-Men "Days of Future Present" Annual 14, which took place right after the events in Uncanny X-Men 266-267.

Q4: When did Gambit join the X-Men?

GambitGuild - Gambit FAQ
A4: This is a little confusing since Gambit has referred to himself as "an X-Man by default, not desire." (Note that this is probably another case of Gambit covering up the truth about his real feelings, as the team and the Dream clearly both mean much to him.) There has never been an official welcoming ceremony or issue where someone states "welcome to the X-Men, Gambit" His induction into this merry band of mutants was somewhat obscure. Strictly speaking he was never invited to join.

Questions about GALEN
The impetus for the development of GALEN emerged at the end of the 1980s, during user-interface prototyping for a clinical workstation (PEN&PAD), and exploratory work funded by the EU (the SESAME & OAR projects). Early phases of the GALEN Programme developed the GRAIL concept modelling language, experimented with different structures for the GALEN Common Reference Model, and, in parallel, tested the usefulness of the approach with a series of clinical demonstrator projects.

Why did JB kill Guardian?

Byrne Robotics: FAQ
JB: One of us is misremembering the period. I don't recall any "drive" for "real" death stories at the time I offed Mac. Rather, I did that particular story because I felt Mac was the least interesting of all the members of Alpha, but realized that from his death I could generate a whole flock of interesting subplots and arcs. In my constant quest to make the members of Alpha more three dimensional, I was always looking for anything that could be used to generate depth in their personalities.
