After your file is complete, it will take IBEAR admissions staff approximately two weeks to review it and make a decision (admit, hold, deny). International files take more time than domestic files because they must be reviewed by USC International Admissions. Admitted applicants are informed by email or phone on the day the decision is made.

It will take approximately one month after the interview for the Admission Committee to notify the applicant of their decision. The result is either an acceptance, rejection, or being put on a waiting list. Notifications will be sent by both registered mail and email.

It is often true that when considering candidates of roughly equal qualifications, the committee may consider a candidate's school, and particularly the reputation of the specific discipline at that school. This is why it is important to take a challenging course of study that includes advanced courses, directed independent study, and where applicable, research experience.

Although the notification dates for each of the concentrations vary slightly, admissions decisions are usually sent out by the end of February.

Claims under $1,000 are investigated by the board’s investigator and a decision should be received within 60 days of the date of the letter acknowledging receipt of the claim. The time varies for claims $1,000 and above. The agency that the claim is filed against has 30 days from the date of notice sent by the board notifying the agency of the claim to investigate and respond to the board with an answer.

If we receive your completed application by mid-December, you should hear from us by mid-January. If we need additional information, such as your mid-term grades, we will send you a request card.

After an application for international admission is received and complete with all required credentials and documents, an admission decision is usually sent within three weeks or less.

Admissions decisions are based on your completed application and official transcript(s). For the Fall semester, acceptance packets are mailed mid-January and continue on a rolling basis until we close admission (usually late summer). For the Spring semester, acceptance packets are mailed beginning November 1 and continue on a rolling basis until admission closes in January.

Decisions are made by the Honors Admissions Committee and approved by the Director. Decisions are usually mailed out 2-3 weeks after the application/essay deadline indicated in the invitation letter.
