How can I remove a DirectShow filter?

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Run the codec tweak tool that is included with the K-Lite Codec Pack. It has the ability to disable several DirectShow filters ("DirectShow Filter Management"). Open the GSpot Codec Information tool. In its menu click on 'System', then on 'List Codecs and Other Filters'. If the file is located outside the Windows system32 folder, then you need to use the full path of the file instead of just the filename. If the path contains spaces, then surround it with quotes.

What is DirectShow?

Forum FAQ - GameDev.Net Discussion Forums
DirectShow is a large collection of objects for working with multimedia data. " " For example, you have filters that read data from a file, and filters which compress/decompress video streams, and filters that render video to the screen. The number of filters is pretty immense, though, and it includes a framework for writing your own if what you want to do isn't present. See similar questions...

Do I have to remove my UV filter when I want to use another filter, such as a polarizer?

Frequently asked questions about polarizers and UV filters
It is not necessary to remove your UV filter when you're going to use any other filter you may have, but it won't do any harm. Some filters, like polarizers, do cause image degradation because of their construction. This degradation is usually more than the degradation already caused by the UV filter, so in those cases you do not really have to remove the UV filter. On the other hand, you run the risk of light being 'trapped' between the two filters, thus causing lighter spots on your picture. See similar questions...

Can I buy a filter that will remove arsenic from my water?

NRDC: Arsenic in Drinking Water FAQ
Yes. You should purchase filters certified by NSF International (1-800-NSF-MARK) to remove arsenic (such as water distillation systems). While such certification is not necessarily a guarantee of safety, it is better than no certification at all. It is critically important that all filters be maintained and replaced at least as often as recommended by the manufacturer; otherwise they might make the problem worse. See similar questions...

Will the carbon filter remove all contaminants?

eSpring™ Water Purifier - Frequently Asked Questions
No. Activated carbon readily adsorbs (causes to stick to its surface) organic carbon-based compounds, but it does not have an equivalent removal capacity for inorganic compounds such as iron, lime scale, nitrates, hardness minerals (such as calcium and magnesium), or soluble heavy metals like chromium or cadmium. If a water filter is rated to remove cryptosporidium, can it also remove giardia and E.coli as well?

ECOPURE WATER FILTERS AND DISTILLERS - FAQs (Frequently Aske...
If a water filter can effectively remove cryptosporidium, it can also remove giardia, as giardia is larger than cryptosporidium in size. However, E.coli is much smaller, and can only be effectively removed by distillation, reverse osmosis, or reverse osmosis with UV as a double safeguard. See similar questions...

Not really. UV light only penetrates short distance into SW. Plus only can sterilize water passing thru it....sediments stirred up can release bacteria that could infect prior to going thru UV sterilizer. Also takes Longer contact time to Zap some of the parasites. This is a problem we have on our Touch tanks. We use UV to protect public. But kids stirring up tank can release stuff (bacteria) out of substrate.AL See similar questions...

If I want to remove bacteria in the water completely, which filter systems should I use?

ECOPURE WATER FILTERS AND DISTILLERS - FAQs (Frequently Aske...
Bacteria and viruses (including the potentially deadly E.coli) are even smaller than parasitic cysts. Only reverse osmosis systems or water distillers can almost completely remove them, and, in the case of reverse osmosis systems, there is still a chance of bacterial breakthrough, especially when the R.O. membrane ages or otherwise degrades. Adding a UV sterilizer as the final stage of filtration is a very good safeguard. See similar questions...

How can I see which codecs and DirectShow filters MPC is using to play my file?

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
This can happen if the region code of the DVD does not match the region code of your DVD drive. Set your drive to the correct region. This usually means that there is a filter missing that is needed to decode one of the streams in the file. The error message should show some information about the required format, but this information is very cryptic. Below you can find some of the values that the error might show you, together with the format that belongs to it. The format above if FPS1 video. See similar questions...

How can I remove cracked, damaged, or undesired orange/red colored filter coating?

FAQs
A) Just place the tube in hot tap water for several seconds to a few minutes, and you can easily rub it off. Unfortunately, tube markings stamped on top of the coating will also be lost, so you may want to re-label with at least the type number in case you [or your heirs] need to replace tubes after a few decades. I have all the components soldered on the boards. I now want to start connecting the tube sockets. I am using National 900 tubes, and don't know which pins are for what. See similar questions...

Should I use a notch filter to remove 50Hz or 60Hz noise?

Bortec Biomedical Ltd.
No. There is no need for notch filtering with the Bortec AMT-8, or any other system using differential pre-amplification of the EMG signal. Differential pre-amplification allows for the rejection of 50Hz or 60Hz hum (power-line noise) and other external noise sources by rejecting common signal components that are measured from two closely spaced (e.g. 2 cm) electrode sites. One important measure of how well noise components are suppressed is what is termed the common mode rejection ratio. See similar questions...

How does a Reverse Osmosis filter system remove most impurities from water?

Water Solutions: FAQ
Firstly water goes through a sediment filter, which reduces sediment, dirt, and rust. The next filter is a carbon filter, which reduces odour and taste, as well as chlorine, lead, and other metals. The third and most important filter in the process is the membrane. Reverse Osmosis forces water under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane, effectively reducing dissolved solids and contaminants, producing a clear, healthier drinking water. R.O uses no chemicals or electricity. See similar questions...
