It’s normal for the result on the pregnancy test to be either fainter or darker than the control line. The reason it may be fainter could be due to less hCG in your urine, especially very early in your pregnancy. It may be darker if your pregnancy is more progressed. Occasionally the test may display a ???shadow' line when the positive result should be, disregard this if you cannot see it when holding the test at arms length away from you.

There are 4 possible test results: "negative", "positive", "indeterminate", or "result not available." A "negative" test result means antibodies to the hepatitis C virus were not found in your test sample and it is extremely unlikely that you have been infected with the hepatitis C virus.

We always have LH in our systems, so the test can pick it up. Most of the tests don't show a full positive result until 25-40 mIU, but many will show a faint line with LH levels over 10 mIU. If your result line often has significant color, you should consider trying another brand. If you still get a significant line, you should consider having your doctor test your LH levels on the third day of your next cycle to see if your hormone levels are elevated.

The most commonly used syphilis tests screen for an antibody to the syphilis organism. Lupus patients sometimes have a very similar antibody. This similar antibody, the antiphospholipid antibody (aPL), can cause an incorrect positive result on a syphilis test. If the doctor suspects that the patient may not really have syphilis, he may choose to then run a different, more complicated and expensive test that checks specifically for the syphilis organism.

It is important to bear in mind that common diseases, such as atrial fibrillation and stroke, occur as a result of the interplay of both environmental (including lifestyle and other health and medical conditions) and inherited risk factors. As a result, having a specific genetic risk factor for a common disease does not mean that one will necessarily develop the disease; and not having a certain risk variant does not eliminate the possibility of developing the disease.

It is very important to realize that because there are a number of risk factors of atrial fibrillation, including both genetic and lifestyle/health factors, receiving a negative result for the deCODE AF? test does not mean that one is at low or no risk of AF. Back to top of page

It means a laboratory could not confirm the presence of Hepatitis C antibodies in a particular blood sample. It could mean that an individual may be in the process of converting from being negative to being positive. It could also be due to other medical factors. In either case, it is recommended that the individual be re-tested.

A true positive will usually show up within the first couple of minutes. It could be what is sometimes called an "evaporation line". Generally, evaporation lines are light gray, shadowy lines and any pregnancy test can have this occur. It is when a faint test line appears AFTER the 10 minute time limit. This brand of test does not seem to have a problem with evaporation lines although no brand can say that it will never happen.

A positive result will always be indicated by the presence of a distinct color band in the 'test' region of the pregnancy test strip or midstream test (accompanied by the presence of the 'control' band). If the test is faint (in comparison to the control band), the test may be positive, though the presence of hCG in the woman's body - or urine sample - may be low. The presence of hCG doubles every two days in a pregnant woman.

An insufficient blood result refers specifically to the Home Access® Hepatitis C Check Test system. It means that the Hepatitis C test could not be performed on the blood sample that was sent to the laboratory. This happens most often because there was not enough blood to test, there were white spots in the circle, or the blood did not soak through all the way to the back.

Many women seeking pregnancy want very much to "see a line". What may appear to be a faint line could be a shadow, blotch, or in some cases a rare evaporation mark. These are not a positive result. If you are pregnant, the test line will be distinct and obvious similar to the control line.

If your first test is positive, a second test using the same blood sample will be performed to confirm the first result. If the second test also is positive, an additional confirmatory test will be performed to make sure your results were not "false-positive." If the third test is positive, it means you are infected with HIV. However, it does not mean that you have AIDS. The average time from HIV infection to an AIDs diagnosis by a physician is usually seven to 15 years.

Lack of a test line - a "negative result" - means that, in the sample taken, Stachybotrys chartarum and Aspergillus niger molds are not detectable within the limits of this test. You may have them in lower concentrations, in other locations, or may have other molds present in varying amounts. In any case, you should clean up the suspected area (or have it cleaned up) and be sure to fix any moisture problems. All molds can gradually destroy the things they grow on.
