We can convert the majority of petrol cars. Aldesa LPG systems has been used to power cars in more than 20 countries.

It is too impractical and costly to do after-factory conversions of gasoline fueled vehicles to E-85 vehicles. Since the combustion of ethanol and gasoline is different, different engine electronic systems are required, and need to be installed at the time of manufacture.

Although some companies are developing systems that use LPG and diesel at the same time, the Greenfuel position is that they are very different fuels. Introducing them together may cause great increases in power output and consequently mechanical problems. If, in the future, a company can demonstrate a system that is both mechanically reliable and reduces emissions, then Greenfuel will advocate its use.

Yes. If not second-hand, many major manufacturers offer bi-fuel models, such as Ford, Rover, Volvo and Vauxhall.

All AFS conversions are termed as Bi-Fuel. This basically means that all original petrol characteristics and ancillary functions are retained. The systems installed by AFS will automatically revert to petrol when the LPG tank is empty and also have the facility to manually switch to petrol at the touch of a button and back again, at any time, even while on the move.

Most engines can be converted to bi-fuel, but if you have any doubts it is best to talk to an approved installer (see 2 above).

Yes. There are two different grades or blends of LPG and they are not interchangeable. Autogas is for automotive use only and will be a mixture of mainly propane and butane. The other blend is Iso Butane and propane, which can only be used for decanting into small cylinders for caravans, barbecues and camping.

A blend of propane and butane, Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is produced either as a by-product of oil-refining, or from natural gas (methane) fields. As an alternative fuel it is most suited to use in cars and light vans, rather than heavy vehicles. Performance-wise, LPG vehicles drive just like petrol vehicles and are subject to the same maintenance schedules. It is generally accepted that LPG gives a 10-15% carbon dioxide reduction in comparison to petrol and is on a par with diesel.

YES. Australia's Autogas infrastructure has grown a great deal in recent years. There are more than 3,200 outlets across Australia and nearly half of the filling stations are in regional or rural areas. Ford Australia recently drove an LPG Fairmont around Australia (13,950km) solely on LPG which proves it is possible. Autogas is half the price of diesel or petrol. This is because the tax is far lower in recognition of its environmental benefits. There are also benefits such as a small reduction in Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) and reduced engine wear.

The car will have a fuel indicator for LPG just as in the case for petrol. This lpg fuel indicator is fitted to the dashboard of the car in a postion clearly visible to the driver. The indicator consits of a row of leds that show the current level of gas in the tank. Another red light warns that the car is running on petrol. A green light shows that the car is running on LPG. A button on the indicator allows the driver to manually switch between petrol and LPG.

Yes, you can. Demand for LPG - powered vehicles is such that increasing numbers of vehicle manufactures, including Citroen, Ford, Vauxhall, Nissan and Volvo, are producing dual-fuel variations of existing cars.

You will be able to flick back to petrol by a button or switch until you reach an LPG autogas refuelling station.

The previous approach to diesel conversion was to totally replace diesel with lpg. This did not work very well. We are actively looking into alternative lpg adaptions for diesel engines. Once we have trailed a successful method we will be rolling it out.

Your car will be converted to run as a duel-fuel vehicle (petrol & LPG). At a flick of a switch on the dashboard, you can change from the LPG tank to the petrol tank - allowing you to reach a LPG refuelling point.
