The Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City serves as a "Home Away from Home" for families of children ages newborn to 18 receiving critical medical care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Referrals are prioritized on a waiting list according to severity of the child's illness and distance traveled to Iowa City.

The families of children who are in active treatment (scheduled for at least three appointments per week) at any Baltimore hospital are eligible to stay at RMH. The patient must be 21 years of age or younger, and the family must have a permanent residence outside of Baltimore city.

Families of dependent children through age 21 who are receiving treatment at Tulsa area hospitals and live outside a 25-mile radius of Tulsa are eligible to stay at the Ronald McDonald House.

A staff member is on site 24 hours a day. The office is open from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays, and there are afternoon hours on the weekends.

For the first stay, a family must be referred by a social worker at the hospital where the child is to receive treatment. If you are interested in staying at our House, please speak with your social worker. If rooms are available, he or she will handle your reservation.

During an annual application period, participating organizations must show that they: maintain administrative and fund-raising expenses of no more than 25 percent of annual revenue, unless there is a reasonable explanation and a plan to reduce costs.

We just put a bit of effort into setting up computers and a network for kids to use in a GED learning center in conjunction with Home for the Homeless. We'll be setting up quite a few more. The project was organized by the New York Public Internet Foundation. Our CEO is currently the chairman of the NYPIF board. We highly reccomend volunteering. It's actually a lot of fun.
