School bus transportation is provided to magnet schools for students residing in the school transportation attendance area, except for students within a two mile radius of the school. Additionally, transportation is not provided to Rampello K-8 School.

They will remain intact. Students currently in a magnet school or program will not have to move to another school. The three magnet elementary schools in St. Petersburg - Bay Point, Melrose and Perkins - will stay in place. The district will turn Douglas L. Jamerson Elementary and James B. Sanderlin Elementary, both in St. Petersburg, into full-fledged magnet schools. The two new magnets - plus Bay Point, Melrose and Perkins - will be filled using a countywide application process.

Yes. Most districts have established a selection process for any student wishing to attend a magnet school. A home education student would adhere to the same process as a public school student. Current district policies govern the grade placement of home education students. Florida State Board of Education Rule 6A-1.09941 establishes a policy for uniform transfer of high school credit. FCPS has plans to keep the business of schools up and running. We call them "continuity of operations plans," and they address employee lines of successions, essential personnel, and resource allocation. In terms of school based teachers, FCPS has a database of 5,000 substitute teachers to avoid teacher shortages. Additionally, FCPS is developing plans to identify non-essential services that can be suspended and reallocating those resources to provide essential functions.

The simple answer is yes. The more complex answer is that sponsors and Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) officials should require applicants to articulate their mission explicitly and ensure that the charter school is clear that students with disabilities will want to enroll in their school and that they are prepared to offer reasonable accommodations to children with disabilities who elect to attend the school.

Pandemic flu is likely to spread rapidly in schools, so they may have to close. Some may also have to close for short periods because of staff shortages. This, in turn, will affect working parents who may need to stay at home to care for their children. Closing schools will, therefore, have an impact on business continuity and the maintenance of essential services. Decisions such as whether to close schools as a measure to try to slow the spread of the pandemic will be taken at the time.

Again, this is another way to have people volunteer to support the class. Champions can help provide transportation, the site can arrange for a van to pick students up and take them home, volunteers can sign up on different days to provide rides for the students, etc.

You may obtain an application from a variety of sources: school counselors, magnet open houses, the high school magnet fairs, by mail, or via the magnet website. The parent/guardian should carefully review all application materials, noting that most middle and high schools require an on-site audition/assessment that the student must attend.

Elementary magnet school applicants must be eligible to attend a Baltimore County Public School and meet Maryland Age of Entry requirements at the time of application for the grade level for which admission is being sought or must have applied for Early Admission with their zoned elementary schools. (A copy of the Early Kindergarten Admission Application must be attached to the magnet application.) There are no other academic or performance criteria for the elementary magnet programs.

To increase their elective choices, students from smaller schools must travel to schools that offer academy and specialized courses. Since overall enrollment determines overall staffing, smaller schools have to limit the number of electives offered. Schools that offer fewer elective courses have difficultly offering enough sections in particular courses to enable a teacher to work full-time at a particular school.

In over-enrolled schools there is greater competition for limited positions in extra-curricula clubs and activities. For example, in over-enrolled schools there are fewer opportunities for students to assume leadership positions, participate in school plays, yearbook, newspaper or literary magazine. In a school with over 2,500 students, your odds of making the sports team are significantly lower than in a smaller school. Many more students are interested than are able to participate.

The CDL provides transportation to and from certain schools, weather permitting. Each year we determine where the majority of school-age children will be attending school and decide our transportation routes based on those numbers. If we do not provide transportation to your child's school then you will need to make those travel arrangements. Children attending Lee and Ridgeway ride the school bus to and from school.

Not all, but most do. Law in Ohio states the local district is required to transport children in grades K-8 who live two miles beyond the school. However, the majority of other school districts accommodate their parents by transporting students in all grades. In Kentucky, the law states that local school district may provide bus transportation for students. Check with the Kentucky school district to determine the extent of bus transportation.

Charter schools are entitled to their proportionate share of transportation funds for eligible students. The charter school and the school district are required to cooperate in making arrangements so that transportation is not a barrier to equal access for all students residing within a reasonable distance of the charter school. Transportation of charter school students must be consistent with the district school board requirements for transportation of all public K-12 students.

Assignment to a school system is based on the county where your house is assessed. If the assessment of your house changes counties, then the school system assignment of your child(ren) also changes.
