Shin splints are not caused by wearing the wrong socks! Wear whatever is comfortable to you but in general stay away from cotton socks. Cotton absorbs moisture and keeps it next to the skin. Moist skin is more vulnerable to friction blisters. Synthetics like Cool-max are better at removing moisture and keeping the skin dry and more comfortable. One of the easiest ways to do this when dancing in Cowling Dance Studio is to simply dance in your socks.
