The Admissions Committee recommends applicants receive a score of 20 or above on the MCAT. This year's incoming class received an average of 23.

Like the GPA, there is no "good" MCAT score: individuals with low MCAT scores gain admission to medical school, while some candidates with very high scores are not accepted. The most common total numeric score for admitted applicants is 26-28. Applicants with a total numeric score of 27 are as likely to be accepted as rejected.

Answer: No. Official GMAT scores are required for an application to be considered complete. Unofficial scores can only be used as a preliminary measure to evaluate your application.

Credit scores (usually) range from 340 to 820. The higher your score, the less risk a lender believes you will be. As your score climbs, the interest rate you are offered will probably decline.

It is not necessary for students to submit an MCAT score. However, if a student has sat the MCAT examination, submitting the score will assist UNSW staff in assessing the application for a place in UNSW Medicine.

The adcom is going to wonder, has this guy decided he wants to do medicine or is he going to change his mind again? An MCAT of 35 is more than decent... I think that the bigger challenge for you will be assuring the adcom that you will fit in (you are non-traditional in every sense of the word) and that you will stay in medicine.

We will accept MCAT scores from 2005 forward. If you sat for an MCAT earlier than 2005 that you would like considered, you need to apply for a waiver (Scroll to bottom of page for instructions).

When assessing the GMAT score, we take into account the background of the applicant. Because of the enormous diversity in the class, we expect variation in GMAT scores, and never view the GMAT in isolation. It is one of many criteria we use to assess applicants: a high GMAT score does not guarantee admission, and a low score does not necessarily eliminate an applicant.

A revised version of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language ), the TOEFL-iBT, will include a new test to measure speaking proficiency. International graduate students must receive a minimum overall score of 80 on the TOEFL iBT to be eligible for admission to UCI. Those planning to teach must also pass the speaking portion of the exam with a minimum score of 26 to establish TA eligibility.

If you are hoping to matriculate in a professional school the year after you graduate, you should take these exams in the spring of your Junior year. If you plan to do a gap year after you graduate, you should take the MCAT or GRE in the spring two years before you hope to matriculate. For example, if you plan to matriculate in Fall 2010, you will be applying in Fall 2009, which means you should take the MCAT or GRE no later than the Spring of 2009.

The Committee on Admissions has established threshold levels for both the undergraduate GPA and the total numerical score on the MCAT exam. The minimal acceptable levels are an undergraduate GPA of 3.0, with a C or better in all prerequisite course work, plus a total numerical score of 22 on the MCAT examination. Applicants who do not meet the undergraduate GPA threshold of 3.0 may be considered if they have a GPA of 3.

GPA's and MCAT scores do not offset one another. Both have predictive value for success in medical school, particularly in the first two years, which everyone seems to think are the hardest. Therefore, the Admissions Committee generally prefers students who have both good GPA's and good MCAT scores.

Applicants to Texas Tech are encouraged to take the April administration of the MCAT. The Office of Admissions will not receive the scores until mid-July. This is important to remember because an early, completed application can make all the difference between interviewing and not. This doesn't mean the August MCAT is not desirable. The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL exam is as follows: 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (iBT).

TOEFL scores must be no more than 2 years old. ETS must still have the scores to be able to submit them electronically only, as required. by December 15, 2007. The university will keep all of your original application materials until December 15, 2007, so you will not need to resubmit them. Except, if you take any new course work since the time you originally applied, you should send official transcripts showing the additional course work and grades.
