Why is it better than the pneumatic mast?

Business Opportunity in Digital Aerial Photography - FAQ
This is a mechanical portable mast that can be raised by a motor or manually with a hand-crank. There are no seals to wear out and leak air (thereby contracting the mast) and an air compressor to raise the mast is not required. Individual tubes do not need to be locked with each extending section as with pneumatic masts. The LUKSA telescoping mast is not as sensitive to cold and hot weather as the pneumatic mast. It is totally portable and lighter than the pneumatic mast.

What is the mast made of?

Blokart FAQs
The mast is made of four sections of fiberglass,or five for a 4m sail, and three for a 2m sail. This enables the mast to flex and absorb strong gusts of wind, preventing the blokart from easily flipping. If you do flip, the mast will, in most cases, absorb the impact rather than crack. If you do damage the mast you will most likely need to replace only one section. See similar questions...

What's better - precharged pneumatic or spring guns?

American Airguns - Frequently Asked Airgun Questions
Both are very good. Both have advantadges and disadvantadges. A spring gun requires more discipline from the shooter to fire accurately on a repeatative basis. However, some can be nearly as accurate as a PCP gun. The advantage of spring guns is that they are a lot less expensive than most PCP guns, you don't have to worry about running out of air or lubing your pellets. Most shooters will tell you it is easier to shoot a PCP gun accurately. See similar questions...

How was the mast stowed?

Shuttle Radar Topography Mission
So that it could be stowed inside a canister for take-off and landing, the SRTM mast collapsed from 60 meters to 3 meters (200 feet to 10 feet), a 20-to-1 compression ratio. That would be like shrinking Shaquille O'Neal, who is 7 feet, 1-inch tall, down to about 4.25 inches. To accomplish this, the structure unlatched and spiraled into the canister along with all the wires running to the outboard antennas. See similar questions...

middot; How do I install a mast on a roof with guy wires???

all Wireless ISP FAQ - dslreports.com
The difference is in the following in no particular order of importance: redundancy, provider, wireless equipment, policy, tech support, network management and reporting. Back in the day we had one of everything and if it failed we had to drive/climb to the point of failure and fix it or lose customers. Now we have almost two of everything. It's not as expensive as it sounds and takes a huge load off of us in terms of response times. It also appears to the customer that no downtime ever happens. See similar questions...

Frequently Asked Questions - Part 3
the UN headquarters, New York: when the UN flag is flown at half-mast at UN HQ or elsewhere, no national flags are displayed at all. Joe McMillan, 9 Febraury 2001 There appears to be an urban legend that the flag is never flown at half-mast at the Alamo, Pearl Harbor, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Betsy Ross's home, and on the Moon. We have confirmed that this is an untrue legend (except for the Moon!) The White House flies at half mast the same times as the rest of the federal government. See similar questions...

Is there anywhere that the US flag is always flown at half-mast?

Frequently Asked Questions - Part 3
To my knowledge, there is nowhere in the United States where the flag is constantly flown at half-mast. Even on Memorial Day, as I recall from my old boy scout days it is considered correct to raise the flag to full mast at noon (but I'm not 100 percent sure about that). Some Americans with a particular ideological slant cite an impressive list of federal laws, executive orders, and U.S. Army regulations having to do with the U.S. See similar questions...

What if the mast didn't deploy correctly?

Shuttle Radar Topography Mission
A number of corrective strategies were planned to ensure that the mast deployed properly, including a space walk to manually crank the mast in or out. If these strategies had failed, the mast would have been retracted and stowed for return to Earth. If it couldn't be stowed properly, it would have been jettisoned. The C-band and X-band radar can operate simultaneously or independently. For the most part during the mission, they operated together. See similar questions...
