Do kB!s occur in other guns or just in Glocks?

Glock kB! FAQ v1.35
kB!s do, of course, occur in other guns, but no one appears to be keeping accurate statistics for most of them. Many 1911-style handguns have partially unsupported case mouths, and numerous case separations have occurred in these guns. Early .38 Super barrels were particularly susceptible, and the critical observer may have noticed the predilection among USPSA .38 Super competitors for full beards in an attempt to cloak the vestiages of what came to be known as "super face.

Why do kB!s occur in these Glock models?

Glock kB! FAQ v1.35
Reports compiled by Speir from various independent laboratories are inconclusive as to one single cause for the catastrophic failures. There do, however, appear to be several contributing factors which collectively may induce catastrophic case failures: Firing out of battery. Most Glocks will do this to some degree, especially those improperly maintained. Significantly overpressure rounds.

What is the relationship between reloads and kB!s?

Glock kB! FAQ v1.35
Successive re-sizing and firing of a case result in eventual weakening of the brass, increasing the probability of case failure. The partially unsupported chamber in the Glock exacerbates this problem. quot;Hard crimping" or overseating of bullets, particularly in the .40 S&W, can cause dramatic increases in pressure almost to the same degree as a propellant overcharge.

What is the difference between KB/s and Kb/s?

Konnections.com - Support - FAQ
When transmitted over a modem, there are ten bits per byte (eight data bits plus a start bit and a stop bit). So if one modem seems ten times faster than another, it's because different units are being used.

Why can't I download at more than xx kb/s?

NoGrip :: FAQ
Due to a combination of factors, namely the high amount of downloads each day, and the availablity of high speed internet connections, it has become necessary to impose an artificial limit on the download speeds for normal users. Also at peak times its not unknown for the download server to have its connection 'flooded' because of the amount of users downloading at once.

What is a kB!?

Glock kB! FAQ v1.35
Coined by firearms journalist Dean Speir, kB! is shorthand for "kaBOOM!," which is the written representation of what happens when one has a catastrophic explosive event in one's Glock. (See also Sidebar Addendum.)

What on earth are these Kb/s and Mb/s you talk about all the time? What do they actually mean?

Connect 247 - Broadband ADSL Internet Access in the UK
Connection speeds are measured in units of "bits per second", usually Kb/s (Kilo bits Per Second) or Mb/s (Mega bits Per Second). This 512Kb/s means 512 Kilo bits Per Second, 1Mb/s means One Mega bit Per Second and 2Mb/s means Two Mega bits Per Second. In contrast, data transfer (and computer data in general) is measured in units of Bytes. One Byte contains 8 bits.

Paintball Ariakon.com - Ariakon Combat Pistol Paintball Pist...
Our markers are a unique setup and are not a hopped up version of any other paintball gun on the market. We don't just take a bunch of airsoft parts and slap them on a gun and call it a day. Are 33.6 kb/s modem connections the best?

Comrex Tech Notes: Ask the Codec Answer Guy
No, usually. High speeds do not necessarily make a better broadcast. Your goal should be to achieve the highest speed at which the modem operation will be stable. Since slower connect rates are more tolerant of errors, some judgement is required to hit the right spot. In fact, the Answer Guy is partial to speeds of 28.8 kb/s and lower, as all V.34+ modems seem to be more stable at those rates. In addition, at any speed 24.

What causes a kB!?

Glock kB! FAQ v1.35
Catastrophic failures may be caused by a variety of problems, but in general a kB! is as a result of a case failure. Glock kB! FAQ v1.35
Shoot only new factory ammunition out of your Glock. This is what Glock, Inc. recommends, as do several members of Glock-L. Shooting reloads voids your factory warranty. What is your favorite lube for your Glocks?

FR&I - Sniper's List FAQ
I have Tetra, Wilson Ultima, and TW25B (all grease) and cannot tell any real difference between the 3, but they do seem to be slicker than other lubes. I read about Tetra for a long time and really did not believe it, but when I needed a grease I picked up a tube and it actually did seem to make everything move smoother and few of my friends thought the same. Another benefit of the grease is that it does not migrate like oils do.

Can I retrieve a backup of the file(s) I just accidentally deleted?

DCF FAQ
If you accidently delete a file and want to check if that file was saved on the incremental backup disk you can run "getback". For example, user 'someone' accidently removed the file 'foo' from ~/bar directory: If 'foo' is in the listing then it can be retrieved by executing 'getback foo'. If not then send mail to help and request that the file ~/bar/foo be restored from the latest fulldump tape. (Please remember to give the complete path- name of the file(s)).
